Candy Honor Boxes and Your Thoughts

So I have been thinking about trying out some honor boxes and I had, what I hope is a good opportunity, fall into my lap. I would appreciate your thoughts on the situation and what you think the outcome will be.

So what happened is I have a friend who is tenacious and a pit-bull when going after what she wants, she is also honest to a fault, so when she told me in conversation that she had always wanted to try out vending, I made a deal with her to finance her an honor box set-up as a trial and that we would go from there. My take is 50% of gross, it goes under my company and all taxes are taken out of my part. She is responsible for locating and servicing. I started her off with 50 of the candy honor boxes and enough varied product to fill them, so a little over two hundred invested to try it out. We both know we are not going to get rich off this initial investment, it's more a trial run to see if it's feasible, but how would you feel about financing this same type deal?

If she's a trusted friend who is committed that's no prob. I definitely wouldnt see you losing money on the boxes and you will no doubt make profit. 50 boxes should return a nice profit. Why not snack boxes? Just curious.

She is a trusted friend and the plan is a little more long term than just this $200 or so investment. If it does work out I am going to expand her into the traditional snack boxes and then into managing bulk machines in her area, she lives in a bigger town west of me.

@havending it's kind of like the old saying about give a man a fish and he eats for a day but teach him and he can feed himself. She has been going through some hard times, and has 5 kids, if I give her the couple of hundred it would be spent by the kids before she could invest it, but this way she has the means to work hard and build something based on that work.

money can do funny things to people especially friends. the problem with honor boxes is that there is no

easy way to account for missing money because it can just be explained as shrinkage.

i cant figure where you need $200 to start an honor box biz with bulk candy, it should

be very cheap to use something like lolipops, under a hundred bucks probably.

with a vending biz obviously theft can and does happen by route drivers but with honor boxes

its pretty much impossible to keep someone from stealing an entire box's take. i have some

thoughts on the idea but honestly there is no real way to prevent it.

as a smart man once said the most important thing to create is not the partnership agreement but

the DISOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT.

The costs included the boxes, shipping and enough candy for them.

Also I expect some loss, thats why this is an experiment, if it works great, if not I'm only out a little money.

Its not like you'll be out your life savings, give it a try. I hope it works.
