Royal Vend RVCDE 552-8

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Getting into the soda machines, I went out in the garage to look at what I had. I have a royal 552-8 that I purchased for like 400 bucks. The machine is mint condition. I have it set at .25 cents to help pay for soda at the house with roommates And friends and never once had an issue.

Just wondering if they are decent machines? Mine is not a brand, it just says Cold Drinks.

I was wondering if I should look at putting this one on location somewhere and getting something else for my garage? I'm not even sure if this one does bottles.

I can't seem to find much info on these on the web. I few listed on eBay between 1100-1550 but that's it really.

Thanks guys for the. Help!

Royals are good machines, don't know much about the 552. I have had G3's (from Coke) and Merlin IV's and have gotten a lot of good service from them.

Cool! From what I know, I got this back in October and I have kept track of how many cans we have ran through it using the total vends and I'm sad to report that we have pushed 1300 cans since then and not once had an error. I do have beer in one of them as well so that might be where the numbers are coming from :-)

Just so you know, "Cold Drinks" is just a generic label. You will virtually never see "Dixie Narco," "Royal Vendors," "Vendo," or anything else on the machine front. When they put the fronts on the machine, they either put some branded logo on it or a generic logo. The brands are usually listed on a small strip of metal somewhere. Royal vendors usually start with rvXXX, Dixies usually say Dixie-Narco and the model number, Vendos I believe start with a v, and USI's have all kinds of labels if I remember correctly.

Hey everyone, hope all is well! Been a long while! Anyways I went out to the garage today and my machine is no longer cooling. I dont hear the compressor, only the fans. Tried power cycling and it didnt work. Any ideas? Going to call and have it serviced I guess. :-( Any idea what to expect for costs?

Welcome to the forum, Larry.  You don't want to post at the end of an old thread like this one as it might not be seen.

You can go to Royal's website and download the manual for the Merlin 2000 machine.  I can tell you that I believe that the pricing menu item is in the secondary tier which is only accessible by pressing the door switch while also pressing the mode switch to move through the secondary menu.  Because you can't do this and view the front credit display at the same time, you must hold the door switch in with your right foot and use your right hand to press the mode switch while peeking around the door so that you can watch for SP to show on the display.  Once you see SP you can remove your foot from the door switch and then pressing any selection button will allow you to raise and/or lower the price.  The prices will be saved as soon as you release the selection button.
