Genesis combo go-380

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, long time. Anyone know about the Genesis combo go-380, from 2006? It still works but it doesn't power up a 110 ict a6 bill acceptor. It only powers the 12 volt non stacker ict bl-700. Not sure if it's the wiring or the board on the machine.? The machine works with the 12 volt acceptor but it piles $ in the drawer because it has no stacker. Any advice, because this lowlife of a company went bankrupt and I can't get parts and don't want to pay$$$$ for a garbage control board.

I bought 3 of these 6yrs ago and plan to work them till they break-------

I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. It's been a vending nightmare.

I appreciate your help.

Thank you.

You should probably accept the fact that you will need to pick up all the loose bills. At least you got it working but basically you are at the point where it broke. If you are anywhere close to having made your money back on them over the last 6 years, do yourself a favor and retire them and upgrade your accounts. Rather than sell them to some other poor guy, part them out to help others looking for the parts. This will help everyone and get them out of circulation.

Thanks azvendor, I definitely won't sell them to anyone. I'll either burn them as a celebration or trash them. They still work, the location knows the machine acts up. I'm waiting for something big to go before junking them as I'm trying to get every last nickel. I paid$2500 + each.

How would you part them out?

Anyone on here buy them for parts?

Best.

Pull anything you know works, motors, keypads etc, and list them on ebay - it's free up to fifty listings a year and somebody's always looking for out of mfg. parts.  I'd dump the control board or sell it for "parts only" as it sounds like it's on it's way out.

In the meantime, you might keep an eye open for a GOOD (not Genesis) replacement machine.

Thanks, lol, I'll never buy a no-brand like that again. Those were my first 3 to start. Now I use Dixie and National.

Thanks again for the sound advice.

Will a GE 800 j surge protector lower voltage and cause the bill acceptor to act up? This location kills the power daily when they close. I worried that would break the machine. That's why I recently added the surge protector.

A surge protector is just another name for a voltage regulator - like anything, they can go bad, but under normal operating conditions they would not affect the operation of your machine.  It would have no benefit or detriment if the location is killing their power daily - can't hurt but you don't need it.

As AZ and moondog said you would be better off parting them out on e-bay.

but if your determined to run them till they catch on fire, let me see if I can help you a little, I have the top of one that still works and as for the pos bill accp. I replaced it with a ict stacker a6 model, it works on 110 and 12 volt you just need the proper harness to make it work your machine, I found one on Suzsie-Harpo web site. With the stacker DBA I have no problems with the machine, it is just a POS, and I only paid a $100 for it. it will be two years of it making pocket change for me, but it only one mile from my house.

I doubt that you would find anyone here that needs parts from one, but there are operators here and repair techs that might have a need for some of them.  We discourage anyone from buying one of these, but a lot of routes that people look at have one or two of these included.  You can do a listing in the classified section for any Genesis parts and see if anyone asks.

Otherwise, break the machines down, or better, leave all but one intact until you need to remove a part for sale, and then list them on Ebay where there are many more customers.  You can take photos of the parts from the one you disassemble so people know what you have.

Hi Mike, do i need the same exact harness or is there a generic that will fit?  Maybe one of the online vend ditributors can get it.  So did the wiring just go bad?  It powers the 12 volt bl700, but not the 110 volt a6 stacker.  If everything else on the machine works, maybe the control board is still good. ?  I'm going to swap a good harness tomorrow from another machine and see if the a6 works, as the bl 700 has poor acceptance.

Thanks!

Thanks again Mike, I found this Rowe bc 3500 harness. It looks like it. What do you think? It's the harness from machine to bill acceptor. Here's the link

Thanks Mike, I have that 12v harness. The one that may have gone bad is the vending machine harness. We thought it was the machine harness or the board. I put the a6 back in today and left it running. Let's see what happens.

It's accepting now, but how are your switches set incase mine are wrong?

Once these Genesis machines disappear we should delete these threads. They'll only bring back bad memories. lol...

That DBA will accept fives, so you want to make sure it set to the off position. That is one thing bad about the machines, the wire is so small for the harness, it breaks easy. I'm glad I have just the one machine, it was cheap, I made my $100 back on machine, and as long it brings in the little money it makes every week, $35 to $45 gross, I will leave it there. I've seen the main board for this junk go for more than I would be willing to pay to keep this POS up and running! lol!

good luck with your machines.

Until the last poor soul with a Genesis machine buys the last replacement part, we'll need to keep these posts active - no matter how painful they may be.

Thanks, yours is a newer version than mine from what I see in the pics. I put a 12v bl-700 pos on it and that works. The catch is they can lose calibration in a week. I'm going to test a harness from my other combo, if not it's the board. depending on price I'll replace board, or run the bl-700's till it becomes unprofitable. Then I will part it, or set it on fire in my backyard as a bonfire type celebration.

I thought they was all made alike, no mater what year you had. I know they have a guy selling parts for these machines on ebay, some where in FL. maybe your not far apart and can score a harness or board from him.

I have 3 of these that I purchased last Oct  One of them stopped accepting coins  I unplugged it and it reset and started doing ok again.  Now the numbers on the key pad work but the letters do not.  Could it just be a loose wire since the numbers work?

Thanks,

Mike,

If there's a harness going to the selection switch pad then disconnect and reconnect it a couple of times to clean any corrosion off the pins.  This might get it working again.  If that still won't work then you can try a board from one of your other machines to see if that corrects it.  If so then you will know you need a new board.  If both boards have the same keypad issue then your problem is likely the keypad.  It's not uncommon for part of a keypad to fail.

Mike, the keyboards on 2 of mine were faulty too. The parts are cheap and expensive. If that fix doesn't work, you can replace it. They sell keyboards on the internet, ebay, etc. You could also try cleaning the buttons with alcohol on a q-tip if they seem dirty. The sides accumulate build-up.

I've become better at fixing these machines than the former genesis tech support degenerates.

It is advisable to replace them with real equipment. I may part one of mine out soon. I'll try to help you with repair tips as best I can. I've been rigging mine for 7yrs now.

Thanks,

Yes, unplugging it resets the quasi coin validator. Coins may jam in that blue validator. I use small flat tip tools to carefully remove coins. You can blow it out with compressed air. Surprisingly they keep working. Also don't top off the quarter tube on the changer, it damages the return plate on the bottom. Leave it little more than 1/4 empty. It should last til you get back to service. ...
