mainor5251
In the past I used the "professional" enamel spay paint from walmart. Tomorrow I'm gonna try using the epoxy appliance paint and see how that does. Has anyone else tried this?
GagesVending
Haven't tried it; I only use Rustoleum 2x spray paint. How did the new paint work out?

Stands and racks were a little worst then expected. Got them prepped yesterday and will spray them in just a little bit.

mainor5251
Paint seems to lay down and cover nice, we'll see how good it holds up after in cures.
Action Vending
primer is much more important than the paint you use. use self etching primer for best results.
dogcow
any kind of primer than can be sprayed over chrome stands?
timberframe50
any kind of primer than can be sprayed over chrome stands? Yes but first you must clean/etch the chrome with Muratic Acid. I suggest you do it outside, had a basement full of smoke the first time I did it. Clean the residue off and primer. I always use the self etching primer. I had gotten a bunch of Beaver J stands where the bases were toast but the J's in great shape. Painted the bases Gloss Black.

orsd
For the muriatic acid can I use the pool quality stuff at the Home Depot or something stronger
Hillbilly
What does that mean etch? What do I do with the acid? Etching means to treat the metal-aluminum,galvanized,zinc,chrome,etc-in such a way that the primer or top coat will stick to it. It basically promotes adhesion. The acid does this. It does the same thing as sandpaper would do but without all the scratches, it roughs up the surface.

Nick505
Self etching primer. It already has the acid and all that in it. It is a primer that you spray onto the clean surface and it will do the "etching" process. It is just another type of spray primer.

I wear gloves and a respirator. Self etching primer. It already has the acid and all that in it.
