1080 gumball vs 850

Does anyone know of a dispenser besides the rocket wheel that will vend 1 1080 gumball instead of two. Most folks would say that using a riser on the 850 dispenser prevents this but its not 100% true. Its a crapshoot.

Ive done hours of research and its very hit and miss whether 1 or two comes out. A&A assured me the dispenser they sell would only vend one but I proved them wrong. (dont mean that in a harsh way) They were unaware that the capsule set-up with the riser still vends two 1080 GB most of the time. I also vend some 1430 GB and need something along the lines of the rocket wheel.

Does anyone have any ideas. I need about 100 of them. I did discover that you can take a rubber hose about 1 inch in diam, slice a half inch piece off and insert it into the round opening of the dispenser and it closes it just enough to vend one GB. I would prefer no to be so okie-doke about it though. I did have to super glue the piece in and I just dont want it to dislodge after the glue wears out.

Any ideas?

Oak does not have any in stock.

Would a rocket wheel work?

Maybe Oak has a wheel just for 1080 ct.  I have many strange wheels for Oak machines.  One I can think of vends about two or three tiny gumballs per vend and it has the holes one hole for each gumball.  It is aluminum cast.  I have several aluminum cast Oak vista wheels and brush housings from old machines I have.

I have a vista base thats about 4 times as heavy as most vista bases.  Must be cast iron or something.

Of all the old junk I have I have not seen a wheel that looks like it would be perfect for 1080 ct.

I do know a rocket wheel works good for 1430 ct.  When I first started I did a few machines for 10 cents and they were 1430 ct gum thru rocket wheels.

Order a rocket wheel from AA. And I agree on the thinking at AA. I always order my gum machines for 1080 sometimes I get a rocket and sometimes I get cap wheel with riser.

Northwestern style machines use the rocket wheel for 850, 1080, 1430

Oak style machines use a capsule wheel with riser for 850 and a rocket wheel for 1430, I don't know for sure on 1080 but probably the rocket wheel the two wheels take different brush offs

A&A has an online parts catalog that lists the right wheels for the products, with parts numbers. People should make more use of it, it's a great resource.

UPDATE. Thank you for the ides,  in the original post I did mention that Oak does not stock the rocket wheel any longer and although A&A shows a rocket wheel in their catalog, they no longer sell it either.

I will check with Northwestern.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Really? Wow, I bought a bunch last fall, good thing I did . Crazy though because I know a lot of people that run 1430. I have seen the fillers for the cap wheel it just plastic pipe glued into the wheel holes

Oak should carry the rocket wheel and brush housing, I never got any notice from them they discontinued those.   If Oak doesn't have those A & A should have them.

You need a rocket wheel brush housing and rocket wheel to

vend 1080 or 1430 ct gum. on a Oak machine.   You do not need a riser with this combination.

Look on A&A's web page download their PDF file parts catalog. under the wheel section there are the inserts Part number NI-1-3 these are the inserts

for the oak capsule wheels, you do not need any glue for these they just insert into the wheel.  I don't know if  A & A still makes those. they also

carry the rocket wheel brush housing and rocket wheel.

The rocket wheel and brush housing is the only way to go without having any trouble with miss vends.

They dont have any i have checked twice. those inserts are what i was referring to in my earlier post.

I really like those inserts because you can go from capsule to gumball with out taking anything apart.

I do business with A&A almost exclusively, I was looking for parts for acorn machines that I picked up used the parts list online said they carried the part but come to find out it is outdated, so just because a part is on their list does not mean they still carry it.

I have all these parts too.

It is a bit disheartening when you go to a machine and it feels like it has about $150 in the base and you dump it out only to realize that you are holding an old oak base that is 4x as heavy.

It is getting close to time for me to order another pallet of gum.  It is getting close to be time for me to convert from 850 to 1080.  I don't know, maybe one more pallet of 850.  It takes me nearly a year to sell a pallet of gum.  hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
