Yikes I will be flying into Phoenix in a few weeks. My son is going to UA ,a little cooler in Tuscan. We are helping him get set up and taking a vacation.

In that heat I will be by the pool the whole time with a margarita.

How do you work in that heat or don't you? I always try and take off when it is super hot.

Your son will love UofA in Tucson.  The temps are 10-15 degrees cooler there and they have more definitive seasons as they are at a higher elevation than Phoenix is.  Tucson also has more rain because they are closer to the moisture that comes up from Mexico during our monsoon season.  I lived there for a couple of years and loved the weather.  The gorgeous thunderstorms develop right over the city.

To survive our temperatures here we have to keep hydrated all day long.  The convenience store soda machines (I know, not great hydration there) usually run out of ice on our hot days.  We keep our a/c in the cars working and every house has a/c.  Basically people move from their office a/c to there car a/c to their home a/c.  We are still an outdoor activity mecca though, with tons of sports being played at this time of year from kids baseball to adult softball and soccer, mountain hiking and of course, year round golf.  We even have football being practiced as the high schools get ready for school to start.  We just learn to live with it and to love our pools and a/c.

When I ran my vending company, all of my trucks were insulated and refrigerated so our products could all be out on the shelves for picking to refill machines with.  The hottest days made it tough on the refers but it worked pretty well.  Now that I do service only I handle the heat because my truck has a/c for driving between stops.  It only gets rough when I move machines in the heat like I did yesterday.  Four machines moved across the valley at 3:30, the hottest part of the day.  I got lucky and loaded the machines in the shade of a tree, then drove 30 miles west toward some cloud cover and was able to unload them under an overcast sky.  Not bad for a 116 degree day.

We are very happy with his choice and feel he will love it also , he may not come back home. He looked at ASU also and thought UA was better academically. That is also what we heard that UA was a few levels higher and I agree very impressed. Not to mention ASU being the number 1 party school in the country, but of course it is what he makes of it.  ASU would of been a good choice also.

They say AZ schools have the most beautiful people also , I would tend to agree with that.

He wanted to go to a warm state and he is very active in sports. Can't blame him after the winter we had. I know it gets hot but most of the school year will be beautiful weather.

My wife did like Phoenix though and wants to move there. Really liked Mill Dr. with all the outdoor bars and restaurants.

Loved the crisp blue skies.
