RikaKazak
So I purchased a bunch of random gumball machines. From single head beavers, to 5' spiral machines, to 3.5' mini bubbles (look like a spiral but way smaller). Almost all machines were used, but while cleaning them all, I noticed something different about some of the wheels. Some of them didn't have the traditional round bubble gum wheel. Some wheels were more like a candy wheel, other wheels had a "larger then average" bubble gum wheel opening (compared to a typical 850 gumball sized wheel)...but those machines she put 850 gumballs in them.. My question: Since all were used, and I'm pretty sure all machines came with the wheels that are in it, and since she used those wheels for gumballs, is it ok if I use the funny looking candy wheels and the over sized gumball wheels for 850 gumballs? Or is that just asking for misvends?
sherlock
My question: Since all were used, and I'm pretty sure all machines came with the wheels that are in it, and since she used those wheels for gumballs, is it ok if I use the funny looking candy wheels and the over sized gumball wheels for 850 gumballs? Or is that just asking for misvends? I doubt she used those wheels with significantly bigger holes for 850ct gumballs. If the hole is too big or too small, the result is the same: misvends. Those larger wheels may have been used for 45mm/49mm bounce balls or large jawbreakers rather than 850ct GB. Can you post pics of the wheels so we can give better guidance? RikaKazak
This is the large sized wheel. This is the candy style wheel. This is the more traditional looking wheel. I contacted the lady, and she said she vended gumballs out of all the machines (850 from sam's club generic gum). I asked about misvends and she sort of brushed it off/didn't really address the topic (only way I can contact her is through email). What do you guys think? Should I buy some new wheels? Will those work?
sherlock
I think she's mistaken. The only 850ct wheel I can make out is the 3rd pic. The first pic is obviously a capsule wheel -- even says so on the pic "ramp CAPSULE wheel". Pretty sure the 2nd one is a bulk candy wheel...never seen a gumball wheel look like that. GagesVending
As far as the Beaver machines are concerned, you can use Lypc brand gumball wheels and they work perfect for gumballs. I have a couple extra and I'll trade for the "ramp capsule wheels" if you're interested.
timberframe50
The second one is a Gumball wheel. That has to be an Ashland machine.
ska173
Is your intent to vend only gum or are you looking to vend a variety of products?

RikaKazak
Is your intent to vend only gum or are you looking to vend a variety of products? Only gum with these machines (I do candy and toys in others though...so I guess I could...wasn't my intent though).
BouncyBalls
I use a capsule wheel on beavers to vend gum , the Shooting Hoops has capsule wheel also. The capsule wheel of beaver in first pic looks awful large though, it may be a 2" capsule wheel can't see the numbers on it
Rick
I use these Beaver capsule wheels to vend the 850 gum and have never had a problem. I could see how you might have a problem without the agitator spring if you live in a very humid climate.
RikaKazak
Thanks so much to everyone that chimed in...really helped out
pjvend
Shouldn't the second one ( Ashland ) have 2 - 3 upright springs to prevent 'bridging' ?
