ronsidney
How many of you have thought about the air vending machines that venco is selling that has no coin or bill acceptor but is totally credit card sales?? this way you eliminate breakins because there is no cash in machine to steal!! would be nice to just sit at home and get a email everynight from my eports telling me how much money i made for nothing.. I get emails now from them for my barbercuts and keymasters but those still require me to service them, only allowing credit cards would be awesome on machine like this, just dont know how many people with old bald tires have money on credit/debit card to buy air. Don't know the situation back there, but out here a full service gas station is about as scarce as a straight flush. All these discount gas places have those coin operated air/water machines - had to use one lately and had to scramble to find some stray quarters. A CC reader would have been mighty nice. I'm pretty sure that unit was owned by 7-11 as I couldn't see any other ID on it.
caserri
just dont know how many people with old bald tires have money on credit/debit card to buy air. I'm not sure why you think only people with old bald tires use the air? I have always checked and filled my tires to the proper pressure each week no matter if my tires are old or new. I haven't seen any of these but they sound mighty interesting. I pay 75¢ per tire each week and sometimes quarters are hard to come by. I'd definitely use one with a card reader. I never use them myself as i have compressor in my shop, but in my past life when i was young there where several times i had bald tires and they had to be aired up every morning and i didnt have the cash for new tires.. i am thinking about making a few to try out as it won't take much to produce these things, just timer board, good air compressor etc. I'm a real fan of lexan as its almost indestructible and i got a design in mind of maybe a clear box with neon inside so its lit up at night and also so thieves can see inside to know there is nothing of value to steal so they wouldn't try and smash it up. and of course have it all lettered out and also have sign on wall behind it if its on wall. I have talked to some operators that say anywhere from 30 to 150 a month is norm according to location and if there is "free" air nearby at another station. I could install eports and have say 1.18 a vend so the .18 would cover swipe fee and percent, not even having a coin mech so it wouldn't be a pulse thing to activate where it has to match up to coin pricing of coin mech. redmms250713
$1.18 for air? kinda to much dont ya think? I could see 75 cents but not over a buck imo VERY interesting concept tho!
caserri
Well I guess it would depend on how much air. I would pay $1.18 for unlimited air, or timed air. I pay $3.00 for all four tires right now. 75¢ a tire.
ronsidney
vendco model he is selling is set for 2 bucks with card swipe,, the thinking i think was behind that pricing was comparing the price to other eport devices on barbercuts etc. where you charge 2 bucks to cover your fees and also it has to be inline with pulse out meaning the game is a buck to play so it gets 4 pulses from DBA so you charge 2 bucks = 8 pulses and customer gets two plays at game..I thought that was way to high myself but he said he is having success with that model. but with not having a coin mech or any other way to charge for service other than credit card it could be all types of odd pricing, increments of pennies or nickels etc., it could be set remotely also, if someone lost their money it could be refunded or another credit added etc. so a buck for air like most places are getting now around here and then the extra cents for fees associated with card reader.. IF it seems too high then it could be adjusted but i think most people don't have option of cheaper air if they need it,, i myself know the stations with free air so i just drive to them even if its 50 cents, because then i get compressed air in tank waiting on me, not a pump to pump up my tire like these pay per use compressors. Grazing Hippo Vending
I had to put air in my car the other day. I paid $1 for 3 minutes worth. I think CC reader is a great idea. In the last year, my wife and I have each bought new cars. The dealership tried pushing us to get Nitrogen filled tires instead of air. Apparently the tires are always at the correct pressure if you use Nitrogen. We opted for good old fashioned air but I wonder how long it will be until air in tires isnt standard anymore. AZVendor
Nitrogen has better properties for keeping a tire at pressure, but it's kind of a boondoggle and just another profit center for tire stores, dealers and car repair shops. Normal compressed air works just fine.
caserri
I've reached the age where I'm no longer interested in keeping up with new fangled ideas. Kids today are changing everything that my generation grew up on so I'll stick with real air.
musser
Ron, Tommy at cardinal was really into air vending at one time. I think they might have even used the Vendco. Biggest problem was keeping air chucks, even with steel braided hose people would get them.
Elite Vending
I had a low tire last summer and I stopped at 4 gas stations and the chuck on every machine was so mangled it would not inflate the tire. I'd be interested in a blazing quarters air machine.
pjvend
so no sales when the net or card reader function is down? leads to more irate people and probable damage. the air chucks are the best the chinese can make them! last at least 1 week lol
havending
I have seen lots of them pop up with CC reader only. They are all charity for feed the children so that takes the comm hassle away. Stolen air chucks could be an issue. What the vendco price? They are a bit high on their ATM machines.
rodsteven13
I have a route of air machines. LOCATION is key.. Repairs are frequent. Entertaining the idea of adding CC readers to my machines.

Isn't that a bit much? I know proper tire inflation is important to gas mileage and safety but I check mine once a month as I'm getting the oil changed. Second, I thought all of us had quarters stashed everywhere. My quarter supply hasn't been scarce since I started vending. The low air indicators on my van is what causes me to use the air machines. It shows that I have a low tire but not which one. So, I'll stop and put air in all of them until the light goes out. I guess I could carry an air gauge. I have paid up to 3.00 to get air while travelling. I have probably spent $20 this year on them.
