Question about Shootin Hoops

Hi everbody,

I'm trying to replace a stream of income by getting involved with vending part time (at least at first).  I figure I'll test the water with a few things (vending-wise, I mean) at first to see what works for me and not put all my eggs in one basket.  I've been studying this forum religiously for a few weeks now and am getting ready to pull the trigger.  I'm definitely going with the mint boxes as one of the things I'm going to try.(Thanks to all of you who have kindly answered my mint box questions)

It seems that several people have a lot of success with Shootin Hoops.   Is there still opportunity with  Shootin Hoops?  I know that they are no longer made, but found about 10 I could buy for about $100 a piece (if I want to drive a couple of hundred miles to pick them up).  Do you think it's worth it?  I see some of the guys who have them recommend bouncy balls with 50 cent mechs.  Good or bad idea?

In a decent location, is $50 a month too much to expect?

I'm glad I found this forum.  It's a TREMENDOUS help!

Hi, $100.00 is a very fair price for shooting hoops! I own about 40 of them and they gross anywhere from $20-$100 mo. I would drive 2hrs and get them. If you run bouncy balls you will need the spring adgitater from Beaver. You can also run round capsules in them with .50 mechs These are the most trouble free vending machines you will ever place.

I would buy these all day long for $100 each!  Keep the quarter mechs and run gumballs.  These can make $100+ per month in a good location.  I would buy the 10 before someone else snatches them up.

Please don't listen to Rodney, no reason not to buy! I have these in All types of restaurants, skating rinks, grocery stores and bowling alleys. I run gb, bb and capsule toys. I get more gum sales at .25 than toys and bb @ .50. But your experience may differ

I have one that sells gumballs at 25 cents. It does about $25-$30/month. I'm getting ready to swap it over to bouncy balls at 50 cents once the gumballs run out. I think it will do around $50/month with the bouncy balls at 50 cents. This is in a busy pizza parlor that sees a lot of families with kids. Used to have a bunch of machines there but they kicked out everything except the Shooting Hoops machine.

Did you buy those first out of the gate? First purchase those can be tough accounts. Just my opinion, get your feet wet first

These are mostly with experienced vendors, or people that only have 1 or 2.

Find out several opinions from experienced vendors see if you want to tie up that much money for 1 type of equipment.

I bought my first hoops in first 6 months, would have bought them first day had I known about them. I don't understand your logic on tying up too much money on one type of machine. They are just $100/each! They can be considered an entry level machine too because they are "Gumball" machines. Rodney you obviously do not have one of these on your route, these machines will give you years of great service without break downs, I have other Beavers and NW, AA equipment and my Hoops are by far a superior machine!

I have about 15 Shooting Hoops machines. I vend gumballs in all of them. They do well in rack locations. They also do better than regular gumball machines because they are interactive.

Since hoops are of limited availability, the optimum way to use them is by placing them in all the high vol locations that are in an existing route. Starting from scratch, it will be 'hit and miss' for a while...unless you can be selective and wait for the high vol buffets and such. The good side to having machines that are not very available is you have a way to penetrate into existing markets by being able to offer a machine that not many locations may have already. At least that is the way it is out here in the west...don't know where you are...

The time to buy shootin hoops is anytime you can get them for $150 or less. With limited availability you got to get them when there available. I only have one but pulled $96.25 out of it yesterday.

Was that for a month?  Vending gumballs or bouncy balls?  25 or 50 cent?  What type of location?  Just trying to absorb all the info I can.

Thanks!

I have only ran gb and bb in them.  It would seem that you might be asking for problems "shooting" capsules. Do you have a greater frequency with misvends or busted caps in a hoops machine versus a standard machine?
