Welcome to the forum, ranthan2002!  Glad you found us.

There is tons of information here to learn from and I would encourage you to post information regarding the combo machine you are considering for your new location.  There are a number of combo machines to stay away from and we would like to ensure that you don't get a bad one right off the bat.  We can also advise you whether a combo machine is even workable depending on your location's demographics and other details about it.  Please do this before spending any money so you don't get a bad taste in your mouth from your first machine purchase.

I don't have a machine in mind yet (brand) just looking for one with a good price as long as it has bill acceptor and can hookup a e-port... the location is my work, coworkers want one boss says I can bring one in...  and I have been thinking of starting a side thing with machines so I figured this would be a start, figured fixing and running computers how hard can running a vending machine be? hehe I think it will be kind of fun...

I am in Tampa Florida by the way, and a list of bad machines would help my selection process and would be great :)

and thanks for the welcomes!

Stay away from anything found on the interwebs, any imports and anything from Seaga, 1-800-vending, Antares, and too many others to mention.  I wouldn't mess with a card reader unless you know your prices will all be above $1, preferably above $2, and that you'll run at least $100/week through the machine.  Card readers are expensive to obtain and to operate and you need to know how good the location is before you commit to one because they can nickle and dime you to death.  Just because you see card readers on machines elsewhere, doesn't mean you should offer one.

thanks for the replies, yes been doing some reading here, lots of good information!  I called the vendor on the card reader and they were hard selling it not wanting to go too much into costs/fee's but I see all the fees when they sent me the information... ouch... yea I am going to run with just a bill changer for a bit to see how things go before I make that jump....  I am just learning :)

going to be new to vending, going to pickup a combo machine to install at my work once they finish renovating the break area, hoping things will work out and will get to spawn more machines in other places ;)

You'll want to avoid using combo machines in other places as they require too much servicing to make any real money.  For your workplace it should be no problem since you're already there - target something like an AP or National and stay away from all the imported and Seaga combos - there's a ton of them out there for sale and they're all crap.  As you expand, a multipriced soda machine paired with a good snack machine will be your best option as they will not require you to service the account every other day (unless you're really lucky and land a huge account)

Those two machines are good for a small office setting, especially if you are working there. I say that because the snack machine is known for product hangups. They are both late model machines and the soda machine can handle cans or bottles.
