hulksmashu00 Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 ok so ive been working in the sports entertainment field for some time and i have a really good job working for a well known minor league bassball team in the summer and a civic center year round that supports a well known hockey minor league team in the winter. both places are differant businesses but under the same management and my position is right under that management. i will put it this way i workout with play fantasy sports and am with management a lot i consider these guys my friends. i cook for the players and have met a lot of the big names in professional sports on a personal level. now to the point i have the oppertunity to have machines in the ballpark in the summers and in the civic center year round ( i have not asked yet but it has been hinted at already by one of my bosses ) these spots are very high high trafic spots. the ball field would be around 7000 people a game around 120 games a season and the civic center is a lil more but for all hockey games and concerts and events!!! i would not have to worrie about competition because they would have to in one way or another go through me to get in.... the issue i have is 1. they make there money off of consessions so i can in no way become competition for any of the products they sell and 2. it would be a thing where when there is no events just staff would use machines so they would not make money but during events i could make hundreads every night with the right mix of toys and gumballs. i have not done commission yet and for this account i would have to. how much should i offer? the commission would come directly out of whats in the machines when i serviced so it wont account for expenses or price of product but i can greatly mark up my prices. can i get 1, 2 and even 3 $ mechs? what kinda equiptment would you suggest? ( it cant be to crazy because if it gets in the way my boss wont be happy but it can be a large rack maybe 2 or three spread out in each spot ) how should i approch this account in way of setup and service? any advice at all would be a great help this could be a huge oppertunity for my vending business and i want to come correct when i go talk to my boss. thanks guys. sweetstop Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 i cant speak to hadlock but I know the civic center always had a contracted set up for concession, separate from the actual civic center and the during pirates events they dictate whats to be sold. my wifes family has been involved with the civic center for over 20 years, less now since the renovations but are still there. if you can get it done that would be sweet! good luck Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
indiana Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Sounds like an incredible opportunity. If commission is required, I would offer 10 or 15 percent, and see what they counter at. rodney69 Posted August 29, 2014 Share Posted August 29, 2014 I have accounts that require 40%, you just have to adjust your product to that, meaning.. doing nothing over 25% total product cost and shipping. You will kill it on volume. I would sell sports themed items, no candy, gumball, flat and 2". AA just sent me a fee sample pack specifically for sports. Equipment I would buy art oak. Right now they have a sale on 2" big oaks used for 65. Flat I'm not sure, maybe but new from AA and shop product and equipment together to save on shipping. I would consider maybe a couple racks depending on layout. I don't know that a triple head will last through a season though. For one I think if you went straight bulk you would need a ton of machines (kinda like a mall kiosk). The stadiums I frequent are vast and have a lot going on. psk007 Posted August 31, 2014 Share Posted August 31, 2014 I have ran two large sport complex's for over eight years with large bulk racks in each location over 75 bulk heads between the two. I give a 30% commission. During the season the bulk numbers are insane and by far the best of any racks I have out on location. If you can land these you'll kill it. Best of luck to you.
