vendingnewbie5
I live in the Toledo, Ohio area and have been looking at the possibility of getting in the bulk industry. I have bought a couple of machines and was looking to go locating soon but have noticed that a lot of places have machines already in them. For those of you who have established routes what options are there with a saturated market? Is there a way I can differentiate myself from the competitors or do I just have to go out and get my own share of the market? Any input or help is appreciated. Thanks
hanihotdog
I would suggest trying to acquire someone.if you are in a very saturated market if you can't do that I would suggest not entering at all. Unless you are using it for supplementary income... beer money... vacation fund etc
MatthewMMorrow
There are a couple of thread around here about providing a better service. You can try to out price them but that wouldn't work in the long run. What % of businesses would you consider saturated and what do most people have in their areas? Thanks I don't believe any market is completely saturated. There are always locations to be had. Start thinking outside the box. Anywhere people congregate could be a good spot. Differentiating yourself from competition won't get you new spots necessarily. It may help you keep them but not get them. How can you convince a location you have better service than somebody else? Really hard to do. My advice is to start with friends and family. Everybody knows somebody who owns a business. And that person generally knows a few more. The best way to get locations is by locating yourself and getting referrals from new accounts. For example, I got a new barbershop location today. While chit chatting with the owner, I received 3 other locations that she knew of that I could probably get. I asked her to call all 3 and let them know I would be stopping by soon. These were her acquaintances who owned there own businesses. Also, a lot of giant vendors will overlook the smaller accounts. Just too much work for them to stop anywhere but the largest businesses. Some of my best GB spots are really small. But it only takes one sugar junkie to make a terrific location. Just my .02 Hope it helps.

Unless you are using it for supplementary income... beer money... vacation fund etc Although I wouldn't say my city is saturated, it is very hard to locate in. Most businesses around here hate bulk machines. So, when I had the chance to buy a route from a guy I knew and trusted, I did. Good decision. Got some high quality locations that I probably would have never landed on my own. Buying an existing route is a great way to expand your footprint without spending years knocking on doors trying to locate machines.

Sent from my Ally using Tapatalk 2 Wholeheartedly agree. Buying somebody else's route is a big financial decision and brings a lot of risk, but I still think it's the fastest and safest way to grow if done right.
