Hotels/Motels

Fellas,

I have some questions about hotels and motels.  For those of you who have bulk machines in them. I've been locating my golpher off since going full time. I've tried 2 hotels but have met resistance of the same kind at both places.  Saying it doesn't fit their corporate image that customers would have of them.

They were both national chains.

My questions are:

1) did you locate? or did a locator get it? or was it a part of a route you bought?

2) are yours national chains?

Thanks for any responses!

I have several hotels, some chain including a hilton and a couple marriots. I recieved some from a route purchase and some from in person and telemarketer locating. Some machines are right in the foyer and some are by the elevators or swimming pool entrance. One is in the break room for the cleaning personnel.

We sometimes get hotels for our customers hillbilly. Motel 8's, travel lodge, and someone's a couple others will let you set up out front depending on the manager. Most of the Marriott's and others are able to go in the break room per Corp.

How that helps

When I first started I placed a few doubles at a friends dad hotels(5). They were all really below average accounts. I since downgraded them all to single g.b., and service them every five months. I would never activity pursue this type of account, especially being full time.

Since it's kind of similar, have you or anyone else tried apartment complex laundry/gym rooms?

This has been my experience too, I've also had theft problems at lower end motels.

Gages I have a apartment laundry room that does really well ($100+/mo) but I have had others that weren't as successful. The issue with apartments is the are generally corporate and hard to get into

Well I live in a tourist area with tons of hotels.  Most corporate owned properties will not allow them in the public areas.  But some of the "casual" independent franchises may allow them.  Look for a sign at the front desk that says "This property is owned and operated by ABC corp with a license from Best Western, Travel Lodge, etc" or such.  In that case a GM (who supports the charity) may allow for one in the vending area or laundry room.   But a high end place would most likely never allow one in any public area of the building.

Another area that a GM may allow for would be the game room since it is a natural place to park a bulk machine.  In some cases the arcade vendor doesn't mind the bulk machine being there and the out-of-town district manager either doesn't care about what's in the game room or he thinks the bulk machine belongs to the arcade guy.  Note that a shootin hoops would be a nice fit in a game room or sports themed bar area.

Extended stay places can also be friendly to bulk if the GM supports your charity.

A larger independently owned (non-franchise) may even allow for a commission rack, but the arcade vendor may claim territorial rights.

But theft can be an issue in hotels.  So make sure the machine is in a reasonably secure area and not next to the door.

I have NEVER had any luck with hotel break rooms or the extreme lower end mom/pop motels in this area.  And most of my hotels were obtained by locators or route purchases.

Again, best wishes on your full time endeavors.

I've had hotels and apartment complexes. Every one of them found by locators.

Not one was worth keeping no matter what product I tried.

So, I have never tried finding any of these types of locations myself.

And when I use a locator now, I make it clear that I do not vend in hotels or apartment complexes.

I have both and mostly average except for a couple that are above,

One is an apartment laundry room that does great

A little risky but I'll take while it's last

Been over a year, it's secured with a cable but that won't stop them from busting it open

So far so good

Of the hotels I have the ones in the employee areas do far better
