Royal G3 selection hanging up

I have a Royal G3 that sells both cans and bottles.  The problem is that, on selection #9 (column 12), which is setup for cans, the column keeps jamming.  If it isn't jammed, it double vends (as if the rod is setup incorrectly, even though it is set up properly as are 2 other selections).

I am thinking that it must be a bad rotor.

P.S.  This is a chain-driven vendor so it should have nothing to do with the motor.  I just don't know if there could possibly be something else.  The rotor is the only thing that makes sense.

You might need to check your column depth setting.  First look at the bottom of the column while test vending it to see if  the chain rabbit pulls on the black plastic pawl (dog) only one time per vend.  When a column is set for a depth of 2, the rabbit will only pull the pawl one time each vend in order to release one can.  Watch the rotor as the pawl is pulled to see if the rotor turns.  It should go about 1/4 turn with each pull as the rotor is 4 sided.  If the rabbit pulls twice then your depth on that column is incorrectly set at 1.  A depth setting of 1 is when the pawl must be pulled two times to release a long product.  It should only pull one time for the front can and then one time for the rear can.  If there is barely any movement in the rotor it might be gummed up from leaking soda in which case you need to hose the machine out.

I had the set depth setup properly and the chain pulled twice.  The first time did nothing and the second pull either resulted in a double vend (simultaneously) or the "pawl" got stuck.  You can NOT vend that column out manually.  There is clearly a jam of some sort.

I did notice that... when the cans were low (approximately 8 cans in a column) it would double vend... but when the column was more than that, it would simply jam up.  I am convinced that it's a mechanical issue such as a gummed up rotor as you mentioned.  I cannot hose this machine out on location.  I may end up swapping a selection such as bottled water since this account provides water out of a 5-gallon jug for free.  The bottled water may function better in that rotor anyway with little weight on top of it (maybe 5 bottles).

I didn't notice any errors last time.  I'm not even sure that the machine would be able to find any errors on this problem.  As far as the machine knows, the selection is sold-out.. but I will check the errors next time as I did not clear any on my last visit.
