FrCorey Posted September 2, 2014 Share Posted September 2, 2014 I am not sure what you mean but, I had a idea to secure my new machines, by drilling a hole in the metal stands and putting a chain thru them secured to something, but I realized that could just piss someone off who will then just beat your machine to dust against a wall or floor. rodney69 Posted September 2, 2014 Share Posted September 2, 2014 I use a cable, 3/16 clear, for uturn I have 2 loops then run one end through the other around the leg of the machine, and the same to whatever I'm connecting it to. My base is 18" square so I make the cable about 3 1/2' end to end. I only use this where I'm pretty confident that I'll lose it or already have lost one. The place is very clean, has a dozen security cameras, and closes at 11PM so I'm not too worried about damage but it wouldn't be too difficult for it to walk out the door if it wasn't attached. I got a heavy combination bike lock and wrapped it around the pole until the slack was gone and attached to a snack machine. No issues and location does well! Bulk vendors normally pour their "bags" of candy in machines that lock and customers have to use coins inserted in coin mechs to recieve candy. indiana Posted September 2, 2014 Share Posted September 2, 2014 I would guess OP is talking about honor box vending, but he originally asked how to secure the "machine," so it must either be bulk or full-line machines. Since we're in the bulk vending forum, everyone is making the assumption we're talking about a bulk machine here, but can't for the life of me figure out what kind of bags go through a bulk machine. Regardless of the kind of machine we're talking about here, it should lock, preventing anyone from receiving the candy before they pay. This is a similar issue I ran into with a few full-line coffee vending machines one of my better locations requested, where I had to supply things like creamer, stirrer sticks and sweetener for free, on the counter next to my pay-per-vend coffee machine. In the end, I wasn't able to control people taking them without buying a coffee. I tried putting some made-up bags of sweetener, stirrer stick and creamer in a bendable bag in my adjacent snack machine, but they never really sold and at this location, I needed all the spirals for better selling items. Perhaps other members have some good ideas to prevent theft of your bags, but my guess would be the missing "free" bags will either be an inevitable cost of doing business with this machine, or, simply remove the bags entirely (and the pegs that hold them) so your customers just use their hands.
