which option is best?

I have an spot lined up, the guy who currently has his machine in there has a two head with m&m's and peanut m&m's. He also has an asprin machine in the womens bathroom.

I know the bar owner and he said he would be fine with me setting up a machine in his bar. He didn't say if the other guy was going to go away or not, but said he was fine with a new machine there.

The patrons of the bar say they are bored with the selection. I am getting a three head. So should I go in with three totally different kinds of candies and try to co-exist with different options, or do I offer the two m&ms and try a third option? If this other machine leaves, and the current machines have done well with the m&m's, do I just do those plus a third option? or stick with the 3 new kinds? What would you do?

I'm a noob but from logics, you should have atleast one of the products your competitor has, in doing so, the customer will have to choose which machine he will put the quarter in (giving you a 50/50 chance of gaining a vend instead of a 0/100 chance if the customer wants PMM and only one of you have it) and from there if I was to buy candy myself , is all about presentation. Why give away a quarter when you can have the same candy as he does? But I certainly would be more inclined to put my quarter in a shinier/cleaner machine.

Just reread the post you just made. The customer said they were tired of those candies. Would I put those candies in my machines and compete with him? Probably not at this time. I would make one head gumballs (believe it or not gum balls sell in bars) and the other two something else, maybe some nuts and another type of chocolate.
