If I were a location owner and I saw this, I wouldn't run out a get some LYPC's and a crane.

You guys mean the ABC gum and fitting inside a crane are good points about vending? Shhhh this film did have something to do with vending and it didn't look good.

wow they put a lot of work into this film huh??  everybody has that one friend these days that thinks he's steven spielburg or something and makes these youtube videos.

I sometimes get in a youtube daze and watch all this kinda nonsense as it seems google reads all my gmail and Facebook etc. and then pops the videos on the sidebar that might interest me.

Ill start out on a good info video on how to sharpen my own drill bits or something and then next thing i know I'm watching some tin foil hat wearing guy showing all the scripture saying Obama is the antichrist! then i look at my clock and I've wasted 2 hours of my life that i could have been doing something productive! like say drinking a beer and watching a football game or something.

I've learned a lot from youtube also, I pretty much trained myself to do CAD and photoshop from tutorials on there as well as make some awesome crafts etc.

Only someone from the vending industry would watch this video and think it put vending in a negative light.

Frankly, I didn't see the clip as one that was trying to promote a statement about anything.

Seemed the video was more an attempt at comedy than an attempt at a public-service announcement or propaganda.

If we are going to look at this video as any type of message-media or as anything other than plain entertainment, the negatives about vending in that clip should pale in comparison to the more important lessons it might teach about parenting, violence against children, stress management, life's priorities, customer service, and common sense.

I thought it was a great video. I was taken on an 8 minute ride through every emotion. I smiled and recalled how magical childhood was when she climbed into the crane and found the companionship she desperately wanted in those stuffed animals. I laughed at the ignorance of youth when the mother was dealing with the cashier. As a parent, I felt the anguish of seeing your child in a position that you can't save them from. I experienced sadness that this child had to resort to this to gain the attention of her mother. I felt disgust at the mothers reaction when her daughter was freed.

All in all, it was much better, and less of a waste of time than going to a 2 hour crap show at the theater. It satisfied all the hopes and desires I had for a film in 8 short minutes. Well done.

On the issue of portraying vending negatively, I'd have to say, I didn't see it. Unless of course the video were entitled, "This will happen if you put vending machines in your store!"

Actually, that was the original title when it was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last May.

It won the "Best Picture Featuring the Evil That is Vending" award.

I can see why vending enjoys such a great rep with folks now, you golphers don't get it.

1. You child will eat gum that has already been chewed by someone else.

2. Your child CAN fit inside a crane and become imprisoned for hours.

3. Bulk candy will make a mess on your floor. Used Gum will be put all sorts of places.

What were the other messages in this short beside that???

I don't think the smack at the end meant anything, I would have done the same. Where do you get the child was neglected or abused?

Take lessons from this man.   I think most all of us would benefit to have half of his ability to "see the bright side of things"

I didn't watch the video as my only source of internet at the moment is my Verizon data, and I'm running close to my monthly limit.   But I have seen a few videos and reenactments of kids stuck in claw machines before.

I tell you what purpose this video DOES serve, let a location owner happen to see 2/3 weeks before you try to pitch that rack and crane and see what happens to you.

I see all kind of emotions and between the lines sort of takes on this video. Imaginations are what they are, what was printed on film for you was unsanitary, unsafe vending equipment with a child exposed to disease and imprisonment at the hands of your local operator.

I suspect this video may have been produced by a disgruntled child of an operator with a camera. I am just making that up, lol.

Well it's pretty clear where I get it. All you have to do is look into her eyes when she is surrounded by the stuffed animals. Especially the scene where the monkey is rubbing her face. That scene does not portray a girl happy to be around the animals, that scene portrays a little girl attempting to find attention, affection, and love wherever she can. She's obviously not receiving that from her mother. I would call that neglect.

The sign of abuse is apparent in her reaction to getting slapped. She showed no signs of surprise, pain, or displeasure at all. That tells me she is treated that way on a regular basis.

That's where I find evidence of abuse and neglect.

That's about what I would have expected.

I think now I'll go discuss the state of our economy with that cinder block in my back yard....with better results than I would have posting anything further on this thread.
