avvending
I have a Tecumseh 1/3hp AE213AL-725-A2 That had recently stopped working. The Ohms reading from the C-S terminals is 7.1 and from then C-R terminals is 1.9. I installed a Hard Start and now when I plug it in both fans run but the compressor itself will try to start but then immediately kick off and repeats about every minute or so. Thank you very much. AZVendor
Sorry for the delay in responding to this post, but I never saw it as a new post so it was overlooked, apparently by everyone. The readings you get from your ohmeter and the failure of a hard start kit to get the compressor to kick on is definitely a bad compressor. If you don't have someone locally to repair it for you I can do so if you'll send me a PM.

Thank you very much. 2 more things before installing hard start. Your readings above look good. If you were to connect leads to S-R ohms should have been the total of the two or total of 9 ohms. Then from each post S R C check ohms to the case. 0 indicates a short to ground. Last thing out of desperation I have seen a few times take a big hammer and smack that pot really hard a few times. If its stuck it might just dislodge it.

Like a hammer on a starter for a vehicle! Never thought of that! cajun
