I wasn't quite sure what to title this thread, but anyways, I am curious if you experienced guys have much luck with these honor boxes on the front counters of small business's?  What I'm directly curious about, is there is a tire shop in town that does have a snack vending machine in the employees only area, and customers cannot even see the machines (I know this because I got a buddy who works there) and I'm sure that's largely due to space confinements in the waiting area, but I wonder how an honor box on the counter would do?  From what I've understood, honor boxes are better suited in small businesses whereas the EMPLOYEES would be the sole customers of the box, have I misunderstood that idea?  Or do you think it would be worth a shot to put it where all the customers could help themselves to the box as well?   This tire shop is SLOW AS HELL (takes them 2 hours to rotate tires WITH an appointment.....)  So I really want to see about a single or double head machine in the waiting room, I think it'd do very well, and I'm also wanting to try an honor box on the counter if you experienced guys have done any better than completely losing your *** with similarly placed boxes.

I've stayed away from doing this because shortages would be sky high IMO.

If you are willing to take the gamble, theft may be kept to a minimum if an employee is constantly standing at the counter.

If it's a business where the staff steps away from the counter now and again, forget it.

I wouldn't do it.  When massive shortages show up, the employees are going to say the customers are at fault.  You could really lose on this kind of situation.

Just what I was afraid of....  Thanks guys.

I think small offices and banks are the best for honor boxes. Both are small enough they normally cant support a snack vending machine which normally makes the perfect for honor boxes.

small offices can be okay but banks are hit or miss from my experiences.  I would say that 60% of banks have major shortage problems and the solution is always the same: pull the box.  I have absolutely no interest in trying to mess with any more banks due to this reason.  It simply isn't worth it.
