Identify Pepsi Drink Machine

Recommended Posts

The price is too low for it not to be stolen.

Yes the true owner is free to reclaim there property without paying you a dime if they should ever locate it.

Yes you could go to jail for position of stolen property. If a jury thinks a reasonable person would believe it is stolen.

It might be stolen property if

1 The serial number tag has been removed from the side of the door.

2 The seller will not sign a bill of sale.

3 The seller will not allow you to take a photo of him.

4 The seller will not allow you to take a photo of his driver’s license.

Before you give money to a thief ask yourself “Is this who I want to be?”

Ok, finally got around to calling the company who is selling the drink machine.  It is a Dixie Narco 501E and the company stated that it is their machine.  With this in mind, I asked for the serial number and I called Pepsi in their local area.  Pepsi stated that this drink machine is not on their files as their asset.  Since it is an hour away from me, I will try to check it out this weekend if it is still available.

In regards to price, the company stated that the machine is having problems with dispensing.  For example, the first time it may dispense one drink, and the second time it may dispense two drinks, and then third time it may dispense zero drinks.  Any thoughts on this problem.  I think it may have something to do with the settings of machine.  Company thinks machine is setup for bottles, and they were trying to vend cans.

If it consistently vends something like 1,2,0,1,2,0 then the rotor is bent or the shim is missing. If it is intermittent, it could be that or a motor brake. It could also be a cam setting but that would be more like 2,1,2,1.

Everything depends on exactly what it's doing but I would say it's worth $150.

It is probably just not set up for the products they are trying to sell. Once you get it and decide what you want to sell from it then I'll be able to tell you how it should be set up. From there we can then determine what different parts you might need for it to vend properly.

Just got done checking out machine. The machine did not work at all other than it gets cold. The display and test mode did not work. I added change to coin mech and it still would not accept dollar bills and would not register coins. None of the selections worked either. Seller stated machine has been sitting up for 5 years. I wish they would stated this in their for sale ad in addition to stating that it does not work instead of saying it works great.

It's kind of like those ads on Craigslist that say "Car runs and drives great."  You contact the seller, the seller says everything works fine except it needs a new transmission.

Jokes aside, it sounds like you may have a bad board.  I know RMorris said that it looked to be a single price machine but it's hard to tell from a blurry picture like that.

If it does have an S2D board in it and "nothing works" in the machine, then you may be talking about several hundred dollars to get it working... but you might not have to invest much else into it for a long time.  The motors alone are worth well over $150.  I would probably take this thing for $150 even if it wasn't working as you stated.  Try haggling him down a little bit and see what happens... that's what I think.

I think that machine is a multi price machine so if it needs a logic board you can PM me. The DN machines also have a power connection at the lower left corner of the cabinet. It's a two wire black rubber plug and it might be separated. Other than that you might have a bad fuse on the logic board that just needs to be replaced.

If you could have bought it for $150 then you should have because it's worth upward of $1000 when working correctly.  If the logic board is the only problem or even if, after 5 years, the validator and maybe the coin mech would need repair you would still only have about $500 in it.  I would go back and pick it up if it was in good condition otherwise.
