MikeFeldman
Hi I have a route of all 1800 triples . There are some cheap vendstars for sale in my area for $20 and not much else I swore I would never buy vendstars. But I have some locations that are really slow . I don't want to pull them but I think I could get away with having a Vendstars in my slow spots (mostly break rooms ) id rather have my 1800s In gravy locations and then some vendstars here an there for gas money. Is this a good idea ? Someone talk me out of it?

Is this a good idea ? Someone talk me out of it?. If we are talking about "some locations that are really slow", why have a TRIPLE in them? If the slow locations deserve a machine at all, do they merit more than 1 product? The money you save on buying the $20 vendstars could cost you money in the long run because of wasted product. You are better served putting either a single or no machine at all if the locations are truly "really slow".
TexasFreemason
I have never owned a Vendstar, and don't like the way they look, but they can be good for the right location. Examples- Bar(Dimly lit so machine doesn't look as bad), laundromat, tire shop.
rodney69
Your not seeing why their not used. It has little to do with how they look. It's because they don't last.

rodney69
Makes sense. Do they have .50 mechs? Nuts are so expensive any more.

MikeFeldman
They don't have .50 mechs. I just feel like there is an abundance of vendstars where I live. There is also a route for sale where I live and it has a lot of vendstars . I feel like I can't escape them!
sherlock
I just feel like there is an abundance of vendstars where I live. There is also a route for sale where I live and it has a lot of vendstars . It's so much easier to find a set of Vendstars for sale than it is to find a set of QUALITY machines for sale. There is a reason for this. Vendstar sellers are typically people who realize they made a mistake buying substandard equipment and now want to unload their mistake/problem on a vending newbie who doesn't know better. mainor5251
To increase your vendiscuss experience I suggest going to the settings tab by your screen name and adjust your ignore preferences and select the member or members that you feel bring little to no value to this forum. If anybody got something slick to say about this post, sorry I won't be able to enjoy your wit since your probably on my ignore list.

Is this a good idea ? Someone talk me out of it? It is a reasonable solution especially at that price point. I have bought several routes over the past ten years with Vendstars on them and they are fine in the right venues. They are usually a great break room machine because aesthetics are not an issue in break rooms. The only real problem I have had with Vendstars are with the candy lid.....so easy to break into so they can't be in sketchy places. As far as product concerns go with longer life stuff like Runt, etc... and keep your product levels low and you won't have much of a shrink issue. jgcorp101
How much on average would a vendstar in a slow location make?
PerformaVending
How much on average would a vendstar in a slow location make? Impossible to say. There are so many factors that make up any location, it's impossible to say what even a good range for a "slow" location would be- as I'm sure the very definition of slow varies wildly from operator to operator. Were I running a VS3K unit, and it made less than $20 a cycle, the length of which would be based on other "better" locations around it, I'd pull it in a heartbeat. If it's making $20 or more, I'd probably give it a pass as that's technically more profitable than selling it. That is just me though- I'm sure everyone's "base" number varies.
