Vending M&Ms

Looking into vending plain M&Ms or Reese's peices. Are there any tricks to doing this? How does the product hold up in warmer weather? Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Halvenut

Here's what I would ask myself.....

As chocolate goes up so much, waste and so on, why sell it? You mentioned warmer weather. None of those hold up in warmer weather! The coating on the outside starts to melt and leaves white spots all over on the inside and then it looks horrible! It will happen to any m&m or reeses.

Then it expands from the heat and cracks the shell. After that and it cools off, it will turn white and taste nasty. Skittles and other products are best for the heat. The others will just cause loss, not profit. Maybe even cost you the location!

I myself use Pmm and sometimes Reeses, but I live in Oregon. I also only use them when I have to. There's a reason all the successful full time guys don't run chocolate...... ( I'm not full time)

I stopped selling PMM's and MM's anywhere that they didn't sell out on a regular basis. Climbing chocolate prices and hot weather don't make for a reliable product. My 3 big winners have been Mike and Ikes, Skittles, and Hot Tamales. In the event the HT's don't sell, Runts is basically indestructible, and sell pretty well just about anywhere.

So in the cool weather months, for a brisk location, you could do it, or for a building that is always air conditioned, I suppose, and out of the sun.

Three quarters of my locations have peanut m&ms..and they all move pretty fast...if they don't move on a continuous basis then I would pull them.

Direct sunlight is a no no for candy, so make sure your machine is not near a window,  Next, you need an air conditioned environment. M&M's generally don't sell well for me.  I'd like to move away from PMM's but customers demand them. It's the most popular candy, by far.  I am going to try Runts again due to a couple of requests.  I've switched from Reese's to Peanut Butter M&Ms because of a recent price increase of nearly 12%.. I almost always use Skittles, and use Mike & Ike if they don't get gummed up by too much heat. My latest experiment is Crispy M&M's. I like them and hope they will sell. I think they are pretty tasty.

One thing that hurts my Mike & Ike sales are these companies who turn off the AC at night, or insist on keeping their store like an oven.

Skittles has colors that resemble old cars in a junkyard, after they've been in the sun too long.

They don't have bondo dots though.

It could probably be arranged.

Or better yet--

"Bondo Dots-- the new, awesome bulk vending candy coming to a vending machine near you! Sells well with 1" capsules of "Redneck Teeth"

Anybody else notice peanut mm's at $6.91 a bag at sams?

Yeah and you need to grab all you  can get because they have been repackaged at 51.50oz for $9.00 plus (both PMM & Reg MM). Sam's is liquidating all 56 oz for $6.91. I bought 90 bags of the 56oz bags yesterday...all they had. This could be a game changer for me in the near future because the profit just isn't going to be there.

I just bought the last 17 at my sams. Most of sam's customers buying m&ms are bulk vendors. What are they going to do if we stop buying?

I never have seen it at 6.91. How many ozs? 56? I'm living in the wrong state.

I've gone to skittles, rascals, gumballs and a half full canister of regular mms. the peanut mms are great sellers but the waste I'm getting with them cracking is eating away the profit.

Especially in the summer. I had one customer compare them to eggs hatching. I said no..they're cracking from the sun.
