BaneTrain Posted July 10, 2015 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Today I decided to check on my hotel location after 10 days since I will be off next week. I went in, took off the top, dissapointed by skittles but holy crap did gumballs do well. Overall it was a 10 day cleanout of $7.75. The manager told me everyone loves it there and mentioned me placing more machines. She even dropped the r word as in rack lol (Granted I am not sure she knows what a rack is in the vending world, but still). I asked if a lot of kids come to the hotel and she said they do, more so when it's summer vacation and conventions in town. Hotels are really dependent on where they are and what kind they are. "Business" hotels have been duds for me, but pretty much any hotel/motel on the highways or Interstate have been great. Soda/Snack are phenomenal if you can get them, though around here they're pretty well locked down by the guys that came before me. Bulk though is often overlooked. My most successful setups have been 4-way toy racks (2 1", 2 2" machines), 5-ways (3 1", 2 2") and my personal favorite, the 2" Triple, which is three 2" machines on a super-duty pipe stand. Rotate toys around and experiment til you're satisfied- a lot of people have kids with them, and vending is cheap entertainment when they've run out of things to do. I've run candy in hotels in the past (mostly in 2013), though most hotels are vehemently opposed to gum of any sort, so there's that to contend with. The triples I've run have run the gamut from $70+ in 30 days to less than $10 in 90 days. I've pulled or lost all of them now, and it's such a gamble (and such a hassle getting a yes from the various managers) that I stopped altogether with candy. It really comes down to your preferences if you want to locate candy/gum in a place like that. Fair warning, hotels are rough on equipment. Soda/Snack is about what's expected, at least in my experience, so they hold up pretty well, but they've beat up bulk gear pretty good in the past. They are pretty happy to have it there and approached me about adding more. I am adding a bouncy ball head to make a triple of NW's on a 1'' pipe stand. I feel like that will do pretty good to start out with, then I can rotate it. The gum is the most popular candy so far, I was very surprised. I thought about approaching other hotels in the near future but I am sure they might not be as receptive. Yeah the tire shops by my work were really easy. I went in Wednesday to clean one out and the lady who runs the other chain location across the road asked me "Why isn't your machine in the other shop yet, I've been expecting you!" Lol I never knew someone could want my machine so bad haha. Yeah I am really excited to have triples in my barber shop and the hotel with my first toy heads! Haha it's funny you mentioned that. IT is my secondary duty at the credit union, idk why since I have a business degree but whatever but I have tried posting a picture on here of my machines and add a profile pic and I will be D#$%ed if I can't figure it out. The photos in the threads are all connected via link- so you'll have to have them hosted somewhere first. For most things you can just grab the source and drop it in by right clicking the photo and selecting "view image" to get it's direct link to drop in. For everything else, Gyazo. Post a pic sometime too if you haven't already. Not to butt in...but as far as tire shops...unless you get national tire shops in a route...they generally will tell you no. They don't want nothing like that on their sales floor,and its usually in their locker room in back for employees...(candy only). I know I have 2 I purchased in a route. Yeah, you have to look for the "local" tire/auto places- they are still around, and there is good money to be made.
