Popcorn Vending Machines Any Good?

A friend sent me this video:

and it looked pretty cool ;)

My question: Are popcorn vending machines any good?  I imagine there's tons of cleaning, but nice margins?  But what about break downs?  Parts?  All of those not so fun to talk/think about things?

Would love some input as it looks cool, but no idea if I should try one or not.

Im not trying to be rude, but, really? People are thinking too hard. Yes, im sure this could "work" , just like using a barbell could "work" as a hammer, but its not the most likely way to vending success. I put this in the catagory of pizza vending machines, energy shot/drink pop machines and $150,000 ice vending machines

Every few years the popcorn vendor guys make a new biz op plan around America. They will go around to cities and have their hoorah style biz promotion workshops in nice hotels trying really hard to hook their next sucker .

"If you sell just 4 vends a day you'll make $$$$$$" now let's here this testimony from Steve on how he made over $3000 the first month with his new popcorn vending business"

It's a total biz op.

If you really want to make a go at it just buy you a air popcorn popper and some cones or bags from SAMs for them to put their popcorn in. Get a super 60 with deep adjustable candy wheel and fill with uncooked popcorn and a 1.00 coin mech and sit it all on counter together with big sign.... I bet it would make the same $4-5 bucks a month their big fancy machine will make!!

Hey,  I had popcorn machines once. Forty Five years ago. Used to buy huge bags of pre popped pop corn to fill them. They made money but then so did 1 cent gum, and that's the era popcorn machines belong in. I had post mix soda machines too with ice makers. ha ha

Post mix was the best!!!  The best ice cold drinks, the best profit margins.  That's one thing that vending missed out on when cans took over.

Well Rik, you already know your theatre accounts won't allow one in their place and I tried the microwave popcorn awhile back in my snack machines - could not give it away.  The only place you can sell popcorn is in a theatre and that ain't going to happen.

0% chance theaters would allow it FOR SURE ;)  But I was thinking about the 2 nerf battle arenas.  They don't sell popcorn and I have permission to put whatever I want in them.

Thanks for the input guys.

As others have said, it "could" work, but it's really a troublesome sort of machine. A lot of moving parts, heating elements, hot oils, health inspections, stale product issues, and so forth just make it seem like WAY more of a hassle than it's worth for the modest sales you could expect from something like this.

From a location standpoint, were it my FEC, I wouldn't allow it as people dump popcorn everywhere- it's kinda inevitable.

Were I in your position, especially if you've got space and money to burn, I'd look into installing a stacker or some sort of redemption game like that. A much faster, easier return on your investment for sure.
