Sheridan Pink Ribbon and locators

So, im getting back into vending. Ive done mint boxes before, learned a lot from my mistakes, and hopefully i can take some of that knowledge with me this time around.

After a lot of consideration, ive decided to go with sheridan and the pink ribbon mint boxes. I recently ordered 50, and they showed up just a few days ago. I really like the look of them. They seem to be fairly sturdy, and have a really nice professional looking design. I am a bit worried about the coin boxes, I kinda think they will be a issue over time, but only time will tell.

When it comes to locators, Im going to give sheridan a try. I considered several others, including a few people on this forum. but at the end of the day, it really comes down to cost for me, especially right now. Ive bought really  cheap stuff before and regretted it, hopefully this isnt the case here. Again, only time will tell.

Ive learned so much on here from other peoples success, and mistakes, i thought id try and give a little back. I will try and keep up as much as possible while working 70 hours a weeks and getting this launched.

I ordered 30 locations from sheridan @ $12 each 30 min ago. Here we go, wish me luck!

Please report back on your experience with Sheridan locating the boxes for you.  Cost is a factor for me, as well, in getting the boxes located.  Looks like they have raised their price, as when I checked a month ago, they were still charging $10 per location.

Good luck!

At 6:54pm on (on the 19th) i received 15/30 locations. Definitely impressed with the speed, thats less than 2 business days for half my order of 30. Most of the locations look like very promising restaurants and buffets, with a few iffy spots, one being a quickie mart, that ill probably decline without even going.

I know in my first few emails i asked about refusal rights, and was told "no refusals, give it a try", but, i wont waste my time with a mint box in a c-store. ive tried 10+, and they have all been flops. Bulk seems to do pretty well, but not so much for mint boxes. So, regardless of whether or not ill be credited for the c-store that i decline, ill decline it and ask for them to be avoided in the future.

Off to a much better start than id planned, i havent even went to costco for my yorks yet lol. ill get these delivered in the next few days and update when i can.

After all 30 are delivered, ill probably wait 3 weeks to service them, and add/subtract service time as needed. Hopefully this is the start of a good thing! My goal is to get back up to 200-300 locations by late winter. in case anyone is curious, Im in Portland oregon, in a very prime spot of the city to get things built up again

i received my other 15 locations today, completing my order of 30 in less than 3 business days. Im seriously impressed with the speed, and to be honest, im glad i didnt order more, becuase i wouldnt be able to deliver them faster than he gets them. Hoping to get all delivered by 3pm on thursday.

I spoke with Travis today (he is the locator). He comes across as a very well spoken gentleman, and im very hopeful that all goes well. If we can keep on keeping on like this, 200 locations will be easy to hit by late winter. At this pace, it will be more on me to get things delivered, serviced, cleaned up, and keeping up with growing.

Although we are in the beginning stages of this, id also like to mention that it seems he is definitely building a route, and not just scattering all over a map. I dont want to get to excited, but i really like what i see so far.

I bought 10 from them and i liked the way they did it. Several of them are just a block from each other. Very close to each other. I guess I need to place another order. I have several I have picked up over the last year that are doing nothing. My other locator gets me all restaurants but they are not as close to each other.

Out of my 30 locations, i have a lot of restaurants, and delis. Some areas are spaced further than id like to see, but other areas are very close to eachother. I have some faith that the gaps can be filled in over time.

I started delivering today, and my route planner took me to the locations that were the furthest apart first. It didnt help that i worked 16 hours yesterday , AND overslept, so i didnt get much done before heading back to the grind. i forgot that first deliveries take much longer than running a familiar route, and also that punching one wrong number into a gps will send me on a wild goose chase for a mismatched address/business lol.

Overall, things went smooth. i had a few "oh no ,we dont want that we are worried about theft" declines, and i couldnt do much except try the "how about we try it for a week and see how it goes?" pitch, with no success. Every time i made contact with the contact person on the list, they were very aware of what was going on.

Im going to be declining a few myself, mostly bars, and one "gentelmans club". Ive only had 2 good bars with mint boxes (different story for bulk), and ive tried at least 20 different bars since ive started. My best mint box ever was a bar, it did about $120 a month, every month, for about a year before i was kicked out. But, besides that, ive seen nothing but loss.

Ive asked Travis to avoid "adult only locations" for that reason, and also because neither my fiance, or 17 year old son want to, or are able to go into bars, especially on this side of town.

Overall, things seem to be going very well, and as of now im very happy with the service.  Im crossing my fingers that i can do much more business with them, and get back on track with vending so i can Change jobs and stop working so much!

Just wondering what was the reason given for giving the locator a "yes" and then saying no when you showed up in person? I know you said they claimed to be afraid of theft, but didn't they know the nature of the display when they agreed to it?

Also, will Sheridan replace a location that you reject?

Thanks a lot for the update!

it seems like there is some confusion at some places, but unfortunately today one place did tell me that it was very misrepresented. I take it all with a grain of salt, it could be their way of saying no at the last minute too.

We havent got there yet. Im finishing up placing things today, then i have a (unfortunately) long list of declines by either me, or the location. all my declines are bars, and there were quite a few on the list, along with 2 mini marts. in my experience, neither of those are good for mint boxes.

Ive been slacking on my updates. I made my initial order, and just made a order for 20 more, and i got those locations in about 2 business days. still working a lot at my job (just walking in the door at 1:20am), and im going to try and pull myself out of bed by 8am to get these delivered.

Travis seemed very understanding about wanting to avoid the bar locations, and im still very excited to do some work with him.  i dont have anything extremely exciting to report, but things are moving along well, and i hope i can keep this momentum going.

travis brinson is who ive worked with, and hes done nothing but good for me. overall, ive been really happy with the service ive received from him and sheridan. hes fast, has great communication, and i wouldnt hesitate to order 100 more locations from him. ive had some flops, and i do have several spots from him that do well over $60 a month. one mexican restaurant he sent me started out doing $150+ for the first month, but has since calmed down. luckily it was really close to home, or i dont think i could have kept up with it.

I am glad that he is doing well for you. My experience with him was a couple of years ago and unfortunately it was not a good one. Hopefully things continue to go well.

Just FYI all. I am new to this Forum as well as the Vending Business. I have built a successful ticket broker business and am looking to venture out since I have the extra funds. I purchased 50 of the Sheridan pink ribbon boxes today as well as 3 T-Shirts from the Susan G. Komen Foundation (want to look official) and a bunch of mints. I am posting because I used a bulk shipping company called Box.com.  If you have never used them, you get 20% off your first order if you enter the code BOXEDOFJO at checkout. I bought 29 of the 175 count Peppermint Patty boxes (after research it looked as if they were the cheapest per ounce). It saved me almost $100.00. I am new and starting out, but if you are seasoned and have a large order, you could literally save HUNDREDS!

Don't know what happened with travis at sheridan. I've been ordering 10 or 20 locations a week. I get some kicked out the first week as expected, when owner or corporate comes by. He has always replaced in a day or two. Had some kicked out on last order and nothing. Email's not answered, nothing from him in a week. Maybe you guys are just keeping him busy. Need to order more locations but I would like to get caught up first. I have about 80 boxes I need to get out.
