It is sad and confusing because it is my favorite, but I guess it is just me. The price has gone up and the bag size has gone done, but we still get only a quarter. I have been seriously thinking of cutting them out completely, or just keeping them for one location. I moved that location up to 50¢, and sales didn't go down that much, and the math shows my profit is actually up. But still not as good as Hot Tamales, or even better the profit of gumballs, or bouncy balls. At a quarter it takes about 14 pmm sales to equal the profit of 10 gumball sales. (15.5 if you take my tax rate into account.) Or 6.5 sales at 50¢. (7 when including tax) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

PerformaVending Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I totally cut out M&M's out of my bulk route- after the last machines sell down, they're getting replaced with pressed candies. The sale on M&M's is better, but the margin just isn't there any more. With the cost climbing and the bag size shrinking, I expect most ops will drop them in favor of less expensive offerings in short order. It's appears that we're at the end of an era I'm afraid. With in about 5 years we'll probably be at .50 for any candy that is name brand. I'm just testing the waters now where there's no competition in break rooms.
