shanipaqman
So I was just curious how do you guys plan and buy candy for your route? Buy it weekly, monthly? What is your process of estimating look like? Do you always keep more on hand than you know you will need? We go out weekly and service different locations so I tend to buy weekly, but occasionally have bought a few weeks at a time to save a trip to Sams. How do you buy for your upcoming routes/locations that you plan to service? Thanks!
Hillbilly
I have too many machines to buy every week. I usually have at least 4 cases of gumballs and 4 cases of hard pressed candy at any given time PMM is the only thing I buy local and I buy them 10-15 bags at a time. Everything else I have shipped in. In the toy capsule and bouncy ball dept I have thousands of dollars at any given time in inventory.
PerformaVending
I stock my candy a month at a time. I take the previous month and roll part of that back into product expenses. I try to keep enough candy on hand so that if needed I could fill up 6-10 triples up from nothing in the event of a sell out, or a meltdown or something. I try and keep 6 cases of gum handy at any given time, in the event I find a loc fast for any of these spirals I have collecting dust. Toys I'm more flexible with- I have a lot of "mix" stuff on hand in case I ever run low, but I've usually got a pretty good handle on what moves and what doesn't these days. musser
Inventory will be one of the hardest things to manage. I don't think there is a set rule for inventory. I would just keep track of what you consume each week or month. Always keep enough around to last a couple weeks ( much more if you have lots of location)
havending
It's different for every one. Hard pressed holds longer than say MM. But a few weeks is good. On caps you save buying large quantities So you tend to have much more on hand. But keep in mind inventory is cash on the shelf
