rodney69
It's slowed down considerably over last year. I think since about last summer or so?

Bravo Duck
The activity on this site is driven by newbies trying to learn. Sales of used machines has dropped, I think entrepreneurship in the younger generations is slipping away.
rodney69
That is true for sure! Used equipment though, I can't hardly find any in Oregon.
cashman
I have alway sold some used equipment here and there and I can tell the last six months have been SLOW selling stufff
PerformaVending
Newbies drive the traffic in the bulk section I'm afraid. Things ebb and flow, and most forums are down a bit this time of year, so I'm not too worried about it. Who knows, the next Biz-Op craze could be right around the corner! AZVendor
It's been even slower in the Beverage and Food forum but from the number of posts shown on the new content page I figured Bulk was doing okay. I can see though that you're probably referring to existing member posts and it seems down across the forum as I've experienced too. Probably just a wave as Performa said. shanipaqman
I enjoy checking in here, but it would be great to figure out how to spread the word faster since there are obviously a lot of bulk vendors out there and not really any other major forums on the subject that I have found. Hillbilly
I havent checked in as much lately because of an increase in business. More business means more time on the road.
ReillyNoFun
I'm having the same issue as Hillbilly - the holiday season hammered me because of my apparel business and I'm only now having the time to take a deep breath and get my vending stuff all on track. More business definitely means more time on the road, but its a good problem to have.I definitely consider myself a newbie (to vending and to the site) but it is a little tiresome to keep coming back to see the only new threads over the course of a year are mostly the same green questions over and over again. Sometimes its hard to strike up any worthwhile conversation when all anyone talks about is how bad uturns are. When I first found the site I spend a good month trawling through threads reading through threads about all topics, these new people don't even bother with the search function.I'd post more threads but it seems the type of projects I'm doing with my vending is not really the typical approach and I don't think that a lot of the people on here really care about or can relate to my plan of attack lol

ReillyNoFun
hah, ok Shanipaqman - essentially I use vending machines as a way to support my clothing & accessories brand. I vend a whole lot of products that I produce in-house, rather than candy, gumballs, or standard toys. I live in Canada where we've got $1 and $2 coins so it gives me a lot more wiggle room with margins and possible products to vend. That allows me to have a bit of a niche market vending-wise in my city - not very many other members here can relate to that nor do they seem to have those luxuries. I also try to use social media a lot to try to promote my machines which DOES drive a lot of traffic - I remember making a thread about it sometime last year to a bellyflop of a response. I thought I had some pretty good ideas but apparently was alone on that one. I guess it's hard to convince people who have been doing something the same way for so long to try something new... Anyways! This thread isn't about me - its about how this forum is a ghost town. That sucks!
shanipaqman
Interesting thoughts, wish the best to you on that. We have dollar coins but nobody carries them unfortunately so that is not an option here. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
QuikVend
I bought some 2" vending machines from some guys that used them as a marketing tool for their live animal show for kids. They vended toy animals as well as some feathers, snake skins etc. They did pretty well I suppose. They were selling machines as-is, so I got a boat load of toys and whatever money was inside. Ended up making more than I spent when I cleaned them out.

I for one would be interested in hearing your idea's as I like to learn and consider new things. There are people that have had success in vending and strong opinions come with that. You can learn much from this site but just because it's not on here doesn't mean that your idea won't be successful. For example I've tried locating in person and I haven't had any luck! I came up with an idea for getting locations that's no where on this forum and its been successful! I would say 60-75% of the locations I've approached this way say yes! Determined
I missed the summer, what was the issue? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk To my understanding the website changed hands. The owner Steve (Casseri) shut it down and it was unavailable for weeks. I believe The Mage contacted him, bought it, and got it going again. Or something like that

ReillyNoFun
The most obvious reason to me why this forum has slowed is the web site/owner issues over the summer. I think it was only down one time that I tried to get on. I know the site was down for a while and that can hurt if people think the site is dead. Its obviously here though (thank goodness) and there are obviously still people reading the forum if a post about there being no posts is getting so much play - I think that its more of an issue of what somebody said earlier - there are a lot of the same topics posted over and over again with no much new discussion. Maybe I'll bump a few old threads that were interesting but sorta slept on the first go around.

But unlike most forums I visit, it doesn't seem like bulk vending is changing so much that there's always something new, business wise, to talk about. I'm still fairly new, so I personally like to just check on people's progress. What do you guys who've been doing this for years check for i'm curious?
