mayhem4masses
With summer fast approaching what is the best way to keep m & ms from melting or hot tamales from sticking together? I have heard spraying cooking oil on hot tamales keeps them from sticking. Any thoughts?

I use Pam cooking spray on my Mike & Ikes, Hot Tamales, & Jelly Beans and they don't stick. I just put them in a gallon-size ziplock, spray the Pam in for a couple seconds, then shake 'em up
Candy Kevin
I am looking at a few carshops that don't have air conditioning. I'm not sure if they are worth it. I'm leaning towards putting runts in those locations. (I'm guessing they can take 90degree heat.) How durable is gumballs will they be a option? Anyone have experience with high heat locations? What works?

Mike & Ikes and Hot Tamales have some issues, but not near the other two. Surprisingly to me, Peanut M&M's and Reece's Pieces seem to do OK. Hillbilly
Gumballs will melt! I have two locations that I have a problem with. I've had both locations for 6-7 years and it happens every year. At first I thought it was the type of machine not allowing air flow. I was using Oak flat panel heads. So I changed them out with 300 globes and same thing. I believe it is the humidity that does it. I still have the spots but I just let them run low when it gets really hot and humid. I always have to dump everything and clean the machines out in late July or August. Candy Kevin
Correct me if I'm wrong...I think if a neuclular explosion went off then Runts and Cockroaches would be the only thing that would survive.
Mary
Runts fade pretty bad in sunlight over a short period of time.

I called the location I installed today and they did tell me they didn't think it'd be a problem because the windows are tinted but from my picture it seems like some sunlight still gets through. Hefe75
Newb here, haven't even placed my first machine yet but already having ideas about how to help with this.. Here's what I did, Has anyone ever tried to add those moisture absorbing gel packet thingys to the inside of their globes? I used double sided tape and taped one to the underside of the top cover where you couldn't see it. What do ya think, good, bad?
QuikVend
I wouldn't recommend doing that. Even though the chances are slim, the potential of that packet opening up or falling into the candy is there. Why add the unnecessary risk? Hefe75
Didn't think about that angle, thanks! You're right. I'll take them out, glad I asked. That's why I love this place, different perspective. Fist bump..??

How much moisture do they absorb? Do they recharge when humidity goes low, or do they expire when full?
