Venture20
Hi, I recently started looking into bulk vending and found a local vender in my area wanting to shut down. He had 30 vendster 3000 machines set up in locations that he has been operation for over 5 years but due to his age he want out of the business. He is willing to sell the 30 machines and locations for $500. Is that a great deal or should I stay away from bulk vending? Thank you
treadmill
$500 for 30 machines and locations is a good deal even if the locations are not any good.
AMD Snacks
I have personally never owned a vendstar, but I hear they're not so great. There is a guy selling them for $5/ea over here right now, and others trying to sell theirs for months at higher prices. Has he given any proof of income from the locations? If they were decent, I'd buy and start changing out the machines as they break, to better machines. The Mage
I would like more information myself. If the locations are terrible, you are just buying 30 machines at under $17 each. But if the locations are acceptable, the account should pay for itself in no time. But I would question the quality of the locations if he is selling that cheap. But at the same time there are plenty of reasons people sell things cheap, so I wouldn't just pass on it either. If they're doing good, I would jump on it. I would adjust the machines so they are not over-dispensing product. Then pull the locations that just are not worth servicing, and then use the profit to upgrade the profitable locations to higher quality machines. Also I would sell the pulled and replaced machines for about $30. That alone could cover the cost of buying this route.
Venture20
What kind of candy would you recommend @mage? Could I also do something with gum balls or bouncy balls in this machine? In addition, what places would you put these machines. The owner told me he currently has them in barber shops and tattoo parlors, where people sit around. Are you saying that I could replace the mechs on the vendster 3000 machines with newer ones or I should just buy a newer model candy machine? Thank you for the help! The Mage
Shortly before Vendstar went out of business they released the 4000, which included a gumball wheel. I think there was a post about turning a regular wheel into a gumball one for Vendstars somewhere on this forum. The company was a big BizOp Scam that sold these machines for way more than they were worth. But at the same time you can find these machines used really cheap. Vendstars are not the highest quality of machines, but they do work. A lot of people on this forum do not like them. There used to be a guy on here who liked to buy them because he could get them so cheap. With Vendstar going out of business, you will never see anything other than a 25¢ mech for them. Anyway I haven't heard the best about barber shops and tatoo parlors. Doesn't mean they don't do well, but that, with the low price tells me it may not be the most profitable locations. But again that is not set in stone. Always look deeper, and check things out. Could be nothing but worthless locations, could be surprisingly good locations. You could also offer to buy a portion of it, with the option to buy the rest of it within a month or 2. (Two purchases of 15, or three of 10.) It is lower risk, and you can see how the locations you bought are doing before you continue buying them.
