AMD Snacks
Hello all, and thanks for all the help as I get myself into racks. I'm trying to figure out, what can I do for ants in a rack? On a triple, I put Vaseline on the pole in a discrete place right under the head of the machine. Where can you put it on the rack? I plan on having a gumballs and maybe a skittles head. (aside from my toys) Also, I've finally started finding some laundry mats that seems perfect for a rack, and don't have any. Not getting my hopes up, but if I get them, should I be trying to figure out a way to lock it to something? Can people, or rather do people, walk off with a rack that's unsecured? Bravo Duck
Don't waste a lot of time solving problems you do not have. We have a lot of racks out and I cannot recall ever having ants in any of them. Anything in a laundromat should be bolted to something else if possible.
AMD Snacks
Really? That's good to know I've never had bug problems...but I've had locations very opposed to candy from previous vendors having bug problems I was thinking of attaching them to either a soda machine that's in there or a wall or floor..not sure if that's common or if people wouldn't like it. Laundry mats seem to be overlooked out here, so I think I have a change to get a few... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

Yep, thinking about it more I figured that would be a pretty rude thing to do...besides if they ever wanted to leave my stinkin machine would be attached...but, so what's the norm on securing these things? I could easily hammer drill and anchor it down...not sure if most places would go for that though.
PerformaVending
The way I usually do it is to offer (at my expense) have a contractor install an eye bolt to the wall- then put a bike chain around it. It's more a deterrent than anything- if some meth head decides to steal it they'll find a way to steal it, but it'll give them some trouble. But, I've got family that's in construction, so the 5 minutes or so to get the bolt installed costs me next to nothing. Could probably do it yourself too, depends on the loc really. I have never had ants in a rack before.

Thanks Performa, which raises the question, are you guys putting Vaseline on smaller set ups like doubles and triples? Or is bugs just never an issue period? PerformaVending
Thanks Performa, which raises the question, are you guys putting Vaseline on smaller set ups like doubles and triples? Or is bugs just never an issue period? I have only had bug issues a handful of times in my entire operating career. Some locs are just more bug prone than others, so you have to kind of play it as you go. I wouldn't Vaseline a unit until I noticed a problem, or suspected a problem though, but that's just my experience.

I can't fathom a business owner open to the idea of letting a candy machine/toy operator drill a hole and add an eye sore like an eye bolt onto my wall. But hey - if it works why not

Exactly. Laundromats and maybe some rougher apartment buildings are the only locs I'd even consider this sort of security measure.
AMD Snacks
Yea especially like you said with tweakers.... Which there are quite a few of in this area...I gotta try something to deter them... AMD Snacks
Hey whatever works lol, I'm investing a lot more into this rack than I normally do, I'd be sad if it grew legs...just waiting on .75 cent stickers and I should be ready to go out there and find it a home Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
