Pulling machines

I  have 2 mchines that are doing poory. Machine number 1 the owner is a nice friendly guy and the machine is kept nicely and is on my way to wherever else I am going.  I keep it but service it a lot less. It is low maintainance its all toys so its no spilage factor.     Number 2 machine-  Does poorly the owner demanded a higher percentage then I usually give. when I collect money he stands on top of me when I count the money. He is not a nice guy especially the way I see him conduct himself in front of others.  He also makes me wait a couple of more .minutes  when he isn't even busy with a customer and his location is somewhat out of the way. I  will be taking the machine out next service call.  I  try to avoid taking a machine out . I  often feel the owner is nice enough to give me a shot .MIGT BE  follish on my part but if its a positive experience interacting with someone I domewhat look at it as visiting a friend

Some machines do well, others don't. Some start strong, and then wane to the point it's not worth it. Recycling low earners is a natural part of the business- if the machine isn't making you the amount of money it should, get it a new home! The only times that I don't relocate as much is when I have more machines in storage that need to go out first. In that case it's more about logistics than anything else though.

i do this part time and live in a apt bulding in nyc. i dont have space for storage.   which means right now if a machine is not doing well but is stilll generating a little bit ill keep it in the location rather then being stuck with the dillema. what i do with this machine

You don't take a bad machine off loc without a new location. You get a new one, move the machine, and away you go.

Is it good practice to try changing the candy before considering pulling a machine? Provided it's a poor performance issue and not an a-hole issue.

You could try but if a machine is doing $2 a month it probably won't make much difference what you put in there

Case by case is probably the best way to look at it. If the machine is just "under performing" then a product swap might be in order to see if it can be brought up to where it should be. If it's a total dog (like the aforementioned $2 a month) it's a pull situation.

  • 1 month later...

Finally pulled my first machine today, :( made me think about this post. After four months it only brought in a total of $10 and it was a triple. I thought about coming back with a single maybe GB or M&I, and I always thought it was a good point to not pull locations just visit them less. But at that rate, honestly I can understand just not worth the hastle..Ohwell time to find this puppy a new home

$10 in 4 months is pretty bad- good call moving it to a new home! Good luck moving ahead sir! ^_^

I've pulled a couple locations due to poor performance and I didn't see them improving at all. I've had others that I thought I should pull. I had a triple that I placed and it was maybe doing $5 a month for 6 weeks. It's now doing around $50 every 6 weeks. What did I change? NOTHING! I think sometimes locations need a little time to get going!

Lately i've been more business minded than not though. I really liked this location, it was fancy and literally cool (so not too hard on the chocolates) It was so chic I put one of my cleanest machines in there. But the sad truth is, they just don't get hardly any foot traffic. I agree, some locations just oscillate, but then there's just some locations that just were never meant to be lol..

i hd machines in a mall in the bronx. When it started out it was taking in 550 a month and i serviced it once a month.  The percentage i was giveing them was 1/3.    After about 6 months of some vadalism a 7 dollar toll i had to pay everytime i went there , a new ownership company that charged 4 dollars to park.  The machines which was 10 of them started to take in approx 450 bucks a month . Sometimes they were vandalized. pieces broken off. the machines were outside a home depot and were safe but if it poored there was slight water damage . MY insurance also cost me over 600 bucks a year.By the time I added all the small expenses and it being out of the way of anywhere I was going . Traffic in nyc has been at its worst in the last year or so.   I  made the decision it wasn't worth it.  I put the mcahines in my own store which is a small mom n pop business . it takes in about 200 bucks a month with no commissions . a few of the excess machines were put in various locations in my neighborhood which take in approx. 30-50 bucks  a month  about 4 of them. I have less work and making slightly more money
