Riser PROBLEM

I have had 6 new risers break( one of the little tabs broke off and the riser shifted covering the drop hole) Am I doing something wrong? I have done them the same way for years in oak 300s and just started using vistas. I did change suppliers a&a over oak. Thats the problem isn't it?

If they're A&A risers make sure you've got them seated level in the hole when you drop the vend wheel on. If it's off center, or at an angle the force of the vend pushing on it can wear out the tabs on the plastic risers. I've only ever had a couple risers go out like that, but I do have a quick and dirty fix for you. Go to the store, and look for the 3M Mounting squares for posters. Little package, about $5 for a whole mess of them. Take one, trim the edges a bit, and fit it into the back of the hopper so the riser sits on it and covers it completely. You might have to monkey with it so the edge of the riser connects with it. The things are really quite strong, and peel out easy later if you need to remove them.

I did this mostly in LYPC machines, so bear that in mind. Good luck going ahead!

If you cut them so that they fit on the edge of the riser, yes. Pretty much any of the 3M mounting stuff will work- it's essentially glue without the mess and/or commitment. ;)

One thing to check is to see if the product wheel is turning easily. Sometimes the brushoff plate will press down on the wheel with too much force...the machine will still vend, but the friction between the wheel and the riser under it may lead to stress fractures on the riser 'prongs' after a few hundred or thousand vends. If you take the Vista service head off the base while assembled but empty and try to turn the product wheel gears by your finger you can tell if it moves easily or not. If you think it takes too much force to turn the wheel, you can remove the brush off plate and add a gasket before replacing the plate. The gaskets that Oak uses are cork and rather thin....but that may be all you need. The gaskets that A&A has sold in the past are rubber and about 3 times as thick as Oaks. The whole gaskets tend to block the screw holes when we try to re-assemble, so we always cut them into quarter sections and just use one section up at the 12 o'clock position and the other down at 6 o'clock area. You are trying to create just enough space to free up the turning of the product wheel without adding so much space that the product wheel gears will ride up and over the coin mech drive gear.

It may be that you have ended up with unmatched sets of wheels and plates where one side is just a thousandth or two of an inch different than the original. We have all our wheels and plates in a box together....Oak mixed up with A&A, and parts from every decade from the 80's on (the real old guys are made of metal).

I didn't have any problem with the older ones I have, these that are giving me problem are brand new

Or the gaskets are missing?

I don't use gaskets on vista
