lastlight
Hi there, I'm new to the forum (and to vending machines of any sort). I picked up this Cornelius machine (think it's late 70s) and I'm trying to remove all the aluminum trim so that I can repaint it nicely. I can feel that there are what seems to be bolts with nuts inside the machine but it seems impossible to access these (plus I think there's more I cannot even get to to even touch). The metal seems to be some sort of channel and I'm guessing the bolts are some sort of T slots that stick out the face of the machine. I tried tapping the ends of the channel to see if they slide off to no avail. How does one remove these? Thanks!
AZVendor
My guess is that you have to loosen the nuts on the inside to release the trim but you'll need to loosen them all for each piece. There could also be corner pieces fitted into the trim itself to keep the corners square. The trim looks good so I don't know why you need to paint it. Just realize that you'll never find trim for it so if you can't get it back together or you break a piece, you're screwed.
lastlight
Thanks I guess I'll start with the nuts and see about accessing them with a deep socket of some sort. The trim is pretty ganged up but I'll clean it up as best I can. I'm trying to remove it in order to paint the entire machine since the paint goes behind the trim pieces. No painting trim at all thanks.
Corvus Corax
That's what blue painters tape is for. Tape them off and paint around.
