BaneTrain
So installed 2 locations today and my first stop was at a body shop. It is a single with PMM. I went there and asked for the owner but he was out getting a car. So I tell the guy at the desk I'm bringing in the machine and ask him where he wants me to put it. He points to two places that I thought were horrible and I told him I wanted people to be able to see it. I chose the one and he said he might end up moving it. He was a little hostile at first which is new to me with this but he turned out to be pretty nice after he told me his brother was a route guy for a larger vendor in this area. I put it in a corner with a window on each side and I didn't even think about the sunlight potentially melting them?! I was in kind of a hurry to get to my next stop before I had to be at work. Take a look at the picture and let me know if you think it will be ok for 3-4 weeks until I go back or it will be fine to stay there. It was pretty cool in there but I don't know how bad direct or indirect sunlight would melt PMM even though it is a cool area?!
BlindVending
Ya move that. The sunlight will Crack them at the very least. Melt than at worst
BaneTrain
I just called and asked if that area gets a lot of sun and they said no. They said the windows have really dark tint so it shouldn't melt them. I hope they are right?
GagesVending
I think it should be ok. If later on it does become a problem, change it to a panel head machine and use 3 colored panels and only the front clear.
QuikVend
I've only ever had them crack on me, never had them melt. I think they should be ok, but I should have the parts of you end up needing to swap to a panel head.

I think so, I think the picture makes it seem like there is more light than there is! It is true that you can't see in but you can see out, the windows are so tinted. I've only ever had them crack on me, never had them melt. I think they should be ok, but I should have the parts of you end up needing to swap to a panel head. Yeah I have had them crack too but never melt. (Knock on wood!) I hope they are. I don't want to seem crazy by asking or demanding when saying where out of the spots it needs to be lol. I hope I don't get booted. Thanks Mike, I appreciate it!
Determined
I wouldn't worry about it. I think they'll be fine! I've taken peanut m & m's out of the bag and they have been cracked.
rodney69
Cracked by sunlight and cracked in shipping are 2 different things. After they're cracked by Sun, the chocolate changes to a tan colored powder that tastes horrible. Shipping isn't like that. If the Windows are tinted enough, you should be ok, go back in a few days and see if there is any white spots where the pmm touches the globe. If there is, it's too much, if not, you should be fine. The white stuff is just the clear coat they put on them so the "don't melt in your hand" I believe it started around the time of ww2 for that purpose. Could be wrong, but I do know that if the white is on there, it will soon melt the chocolate in the center, causing it to expand, break the shell, then turn tan and dust for lack of a better term and taste horrible. PerformaVending
In the event your candy is starting to melt on you, remember that a couple gumball display cards reversed to show the white side out make wonderful sunshades.
The Mage
PMM's for a quarter? Have you figured out your cost per serving?
