vendtex
What are you selling and for how much? Gum ball candy 50 cents and less is exempt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Flyboy718
Gumballs and tab gum right now. And $0.25. My wife is worrying me because she has an embroidery business and pays quarterly taxes and she told me that I need to be doing the same.
Mary
You do not have to pay taxes on it but you do have to report your income every 4 months if you are tax exempt. They will send you a notice in the mail.
vendtex
You also have to pay the 'use' part of the taxes e.g. Sales tax on machines or supplies u buy online tax free At least that's my understanding of it. Flyboy718
No I am not tax exempt. So how do I pay the sales tax on the machines that I purchased last year? Do I do that on my tax returns for 2016?
vendtex
try going to this website. It should help answer questions. You can also call them directly and talk to them. https://www.comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/sales/
Flyboy718
Got in touch with them and they got back to me and yes as long as less than $0.50 then no sales tax required to pay. If you do choose to get a sales tax permit though you then must pay sales tax and even if you had no sales for a quarter you must pay a minimum of $50.
