NorthTXVending
In doing my research over the last couple of months, it appears that plastic is the material least preferred by most bulk vending operators. In your experience, which bulk vending machines would you AVOID even if you could pick one up sitting on the curb for free. (of course one would pick it up from the curb and sell on craigslist or ebay, but you know what I mean : ) ) This post is not meant to insult anyone using a specific model which may be mentioned, but better yet to educate myself and others new to the field on the machines of choice. Thanks!
mizugori
vendstars. they look terrible, work like crap, and vend a small amount even on the most open setting. And coins always get stuck on the back of the mech, or don't fall into the trays. And the trays don't hold many coins. But the main problem is they are just giant hunks of crap that break down and look terrible.
NorthTXVending
I have been advised of the same from a friend regarding the vendstars. Thanks.
Guest ontheballvending
I couldnt agree more, but they are a very cheap way to get started in the business. They are like disposable razors.

mainor5251
Easier to make a list of machines that if you stick with these you can't go wrong, anything else just flip on craigslist or ebay. Just my opinion but I'm sticking with Oaks, Northwesterns, and A&A. I'm getting away from triples so I'm not gonna mention 1800's. And don't generally buy beavers cause never find a good deal on them.
NorthTXVending
mainor5251..Why are you moving away from triples? Just curious.
mainor5251
There just not as versatile and want to keep as few brands as possible so parts are not an issue. I would say all my triples either need to be downgraded to a single or double or upgraded to a rack. I'll still use 1 every once in a while just not gonna build my route with them. Quarter Master
NorthTx, If you go over to the "Equipment Reviews" section, there are all sorts of machines with plenty of discussions.
NorthTXVending
Thanks Islander...I should have posted under that topic to begin with. I have spent some time going through the posts in the Equip Reviews topic as well, and with the comments here included, I now know which machines are not favored by the group. : )
Popular Post agrantha
NorthTX I don't believe anyone on this board has ever seen a brand new Vendstar in real life. They actually don't look bad, brand new. They just look bad pretty quick. They are allergic to sun light. They will fade and turn shades of grey, green and brown. Vendstars hold up well in a non aggressive environment. I have been in vending now for 7 months. My Vendstars have not given me any problems. The canisters are easy to switch in and out. They can be purchased on EBay and Craig’s list really cheap. And like "On The Ball" said, they are like disposable razors. When they get damaged you are not as upset unless you purchased one brand new. I started my business with Vendstars and am very pleased with my results so far. In saying that, my last purchase were the Northwesterns you can see in my signature file. One of the heads is brand new. Everything else was slightly used. I purchased them because I got a great deal. I have already given the guy $80.00. I owe him another $80.00. He is also going to throw in some extra parts when I see him to give him the other $80.00. Personally, I refuse to buy a brand new machine unless some company is having a going out of business sale. Used and new machines perform the same unless you are in some exclusive location that requires a flawless shiny machine without a blemish. A good personality, a clean working machine and good service is what carries you in this business.
Popular Post shanipaqman
I am amused by this thread. I have been in bulk vending for over 7 years and am making a lot of money off the machines that everyone says are useless junk. Every time my "useless junk" is stolen from a location I just smile and go on my way knowing that I only lost $30. I don't think too many of you guys feel that way when you lose a nice machine. I have a friend that has a route of 700 vendstars and when he collects his $7000 monthly do you think he cares what kind of machines he is using? My point is this, if you are going to be a commercial vendor fine, buy top of the line. But, if you are wanting to make money fast and want a return on investment in months and not years, then I suggest you take a look at these plastic peices of junk. You can make money and a lot of it with these disposable machines. They are in good supply and incredible deals are to be had, so get out there and start making some money!
Popular Post lisa vending group
I ike what Shanipaqman stated,I have some venstars,15-20 all money makers. it is true they are either red or yellow, which i sprayed myself.1800s are work horses and most of my business are those. It is a good opportunity to buy used venstars for the newbe, and people with limited resourses.3 venstars will give you almost 3 times what one machne will....get my point...good thread shanipaqman

A little work and some paint and you can make a nice looking machine out of them.. I love the vendstars...if anything breaks replace that part cheap and easy..I had over 60 of them out on locations before I started locating full time(heh... I said full time.. LOL) and I swear never a prob even in the mechanic shops and warehouses where they like to treat them a little more rough. (hah...I said they like it rough) I kept an extra head that was ready to go and go in to my first loc on the route switch heads bring the one that needed service to my truck and service it and go to the next loc and do the same thing so I spent no time in the loc messing around with candy or money which if a mngr or owner see's you getting to many quarters out he'll have you move it and put his own..happend to my best two locs when I had my route...and even now when I build routes to sell I'll buy any machine since I'm not keeeping but v stars are my first choice and will pay a buck or two more if I have to to get those...those off brand v stars are junk...I wont even buy those to build a route to sell.. I am vendstars biggest fan prob...sorry they went out of biz but parts and machines will be around and available for a hunred yrs
lisa vending group
the mech seems to work ok,what happens is that coins sit on a flat shelve directly behind the mech inside the machine.with vendstars you need to unlock the two top locks and the rear lock in order to see the quarters a lot of operators just open the back or shake the machine a little and the coins fall down, but i have not seen that being a problem.I will keep mine in service...I did not go out and buy vendstars...they came with the route i bought hope i answered your question ron
