  1. I've got to chime in here. When I first started in this business I was super gung ho about getting cheap machines so you could expand fast. Live and learn. Beaver is the only way to go. You will make far more sales using a Beaver machine then you will with others. And, I've figured out the reason. Beavers always vend the same amount of product. 80% of your consumers are repeat buyers. I've used other machines that vend 5 one time and 15 the next. I've put two quarters in a Dentyne machine and it never even gave me one piece of gum. If you want people coming back to your machines, go Beaver. I have a client who averages $30+ / month using gumballs only on single Round Beaver machines. Tell me that's not interesting. Sour Gumballs you all! It's where it's at. I've got the information from the pros. Buy in bulk direct from Oak Leaf. You can get gumballs under 2 cents. It's all about gumballs. Keep it simple. Regards, Rob http://www.kickstartlocations.com P.S. Beaver WILL negotiate on pricing for large orders.
  2. Our live chat girl Ana gave me a report that you've been spending too much time on our website Scott! J/k. Bars are usually pretty big money makers. If the bar is active and your machines not doing well you need to test out other combination's of products. I've seen Mike & Ikes do really well in bars for some reason. I've heard decent things about the Alco-Buddy machines in bars. $60 - $300 / Month. Under $60 is very low I've heard. Regards, Rob http://www.kickstartlocations.com P.S. Been a while since I've been active around here! Good to see everyone!
  3. It sure looks like SuperPro is gone to me. I've had many clients call and tell me they can't get a hold of them. I even gave Steve's cell phone a ring with no response. I feel bad because I have told so many people about the product and now it's defunct. Live and learn. Go with the people that have been around. Beaver all the way! Regards, Rob
  4. Nothing against you Eddie. He does end the convo rather abruptly with the 'bye bye." I was making a general life observation; things are seldom what they seem. Regards, Rob P.S. You are Shady Eddie! Get it together! J/k
  5. Well, just a thought to all. I've talked with Lewis several times too. Yes, he's a little quirky. Yes, he does ask a lot of questions. Yes, he is indecisive. But, I will say, sometimes it's the Lewis of this world that makes the biggest difference. I've had people call and ask a million questions, tell me they wanted to locate one machine and end up buying one hundred. I've had guys call talking about ordering 100's of locations and never order a single one. I don't know where this Lewis fits in all of this, but I'll say this. He has been far more prudent and diligent with his money than most. Spread the Love! Regards, Rob
  6. I'm 95% sure Vendstar is out of business and closing their doors. I've got it from multiple sources now. It will be sad to see one of the long standing juggernauts disappear. Regards, Rob
  7. I don't mind giving the details Sherlock now owns 95% of Kick Start. Rob is left with 5% and maybe a full time position if he really works at it ;P Regards, Rob P.S. Joke!
  8. Just a short reply. I want to make abundantly clear this is a rogue agent. I and the rest of the KSL team would never condone this. Regards, Rob
  9. Had sent out 10 PM's, all to Kelly asking for a helpful transition, haha. I was hoping someone would bring up EB but just when I need him he goes silent! ;P Regards, Rob P.S. And yes, I love politics and business. My goal is to be a Senator.
  10. And by the way, as for Sherlock, he's more than a stand up guy. I'm glad your charity is going to let you stay on. He's always very willing to work with us hopefully we can figure something out to continue working together. Regards, Rob P.S. On next version of KS Admin Panel we are only going to accept pre-certified charities. Not just for issues like this but so we can write out exact scripts for each charity that we use. Businesses ask a lot of information and sometimes when using more obscure charities we get stuck.
  11. Let's keep this topic right here, nice transition, haha. Here's my two cents. I've had clients call and tell me they put in a larger machine and they wanted to let me know and pay me. I have so much respect for that level of integrity that I do not charge an upgrade fee. Now, when you hire me for a double, and the place tells us on the phone that they may want multiple machines, then I do like to get paid if someone is going to install a big rack or something. I can tell you though, that when a client puts in a smaller machine then they order they usually ask for a credit and I have no problem with this either. As for your situation about MidWest's location 6 months later. I would not expect to be paid on that. Although if you called me and offered I would sure think a lot of you! Regards, Rob
  12. Just as an aside, we don't expect you to pay us if you upgrade a location on your own. I suggest to a lot of clients that they start with single/double and then upgrade to a rack if the location does well. Regards, Rob
  13. Yeah, this is definitely an unfortunate situation and I've apologized profusely. Charities like the NCCS that have national vending programs explicitly allow locators to solicit on the phone. As I told sherlock, when we call a business we act as if an employee of his business and we let the business know what charity the machine supports. I've listened to many call recordings in my life and we never say we are an employee of a charity. We can be sales people too, that's what we do. Assertive, Yes, but we always use Sir/Mam and say Thank You for your time no matter what their response is. Regards, Rob P.S. I was honest with Sherlock about what happened. I feel like Obama trying to handle the Oil crisis. What can you really do. I take the blame for this one.
  14. I don't know who's right here but Spdydre Signature got me laughing quite a bit. oh dear. Rob
  15. Absolutely. I don't want to give away all the details in the vision I have for KS but yes, absolutely, these 70% are top priority. Speed and Quality are what our clients are worried about and that's what we're worried about. Approximately 50% of Turn Downs could be addressed with more qualifying questions. We're simply not setup (yet) to address all of these qualifying questions. I'm not one to make excuses for failures but here are some variables you may have not considered. Not only is every machine different, but every client has different products, different climate concerns, different location preferences and different goals for their business. In an ideal situation all of this will be considered. And in the future it will be. But, Let's get back to pricing because that's what this thread is about. Regards, Rob P.S. I got to laughing the other day. A client was asking me if it was easy to get into the locating business. I told him "Absolutely, it's very easy to get into the Locating Business." "Oh Yeah" he said, and I said "Yeah, It's just absurdly hard to run one well!"
