blog-0127559001343542531.jpgSo as some of you may know, I took over a Gigantunormous bulk candy route this month with 373 machines in 173 locations and since I am just starting up, this has been an amazing feat! The following is a detailed account of my activity over the course of the last few weeks while ramping up to go out. If you don't like all the details about how "I" did it, then scroll to the bottom of this entry to read my first full weeks income report. That's working 3.5 days on the route about 9-11 hours each time with LOTS of travel time. Couldn't have done a lot of this without you all and with particular shot out to Allen with AMC-Vending who has taken me under his wing and talks with me almost every day. He's amazing and his knowledges over runneth! Thank you Allen!

7/9, sold my honda civic and bought an older truck with a camper. Had to drive 2 hours away to buy it so that was a whole day.

7/10 MVD, insurance stuff, sold notice, etc. I think my laptop hard drive crashed on this day...

7/11 Opened a Bank of America account. Free business account with no minimum and they roll my quarters for me up to $10,000 a month. After that, they charge .20 cents per $1,000. It was a hard sell. LOL

7/12 Details of the business are narrowing in on me. How to do accounting, should I purchase Quickbooks, I need to publish in a paper, I-yi-yi.
7/13 Dell dude fixed the puter. So nice.... Cleaned out my back patio. Two trips to the goodwill, 1 trip and 3 boxes to shred old paperwork, sold hubby's truck (with his permission, of course) and had a VERY productive day.

On 7/14, my father in law and I went to a location that was about 10 miles from my home, the closest one. The machine had not been serviced in about a year and a half. Because of that, he had a 8-way put in by his friend and my two babies were sitting in the fetal position in the corner with dust and I swear a gumball on top was moldy. Anyways, we changed the heads and filled them real quick, about 30 minutes because neither of us had done it before. I had 4 clean ones in my truck ready to go. That was $2.75. Also, on this day, I subscribed to a 14-day free trial to Vend-trak.

Last week 7/15-7/21:
7/15: Day of rest... So nice. Had some personal problems that leaked all the way into Wednesday.

Monday, my father-in-law build two 8 foot long work benches for me. He is sweet! I did more research on the internet, mostly on Youtube and probably 3 hours on Vend-trak.

Tuesday, we loaded up two camper shelled trucks with machines from the storage units an hour away and brought them back to the house. We unloaded all the good machines under and on top of one of the 8' long tables and the side of it with about 150 good machines. Mind you, there were some technicalities at the storage shed when we got there and their paperwork wasn't complete. It was a huge fiasco so we didn't start loading until around 11:30am! In the middle of the hot summer in ARIZONA! So I got a little dizzy once. Good times! My in-laws bought me a cute red wagon with pneumatic tires. It's so cute and can hold 8 machines!

Wednesday: We unloaded my truck with maybe 30 bases without bulbs or heads (not sure on terminology) and probably 30 for parts and a few more good ones and tons of boxes of extra parts! Had quite a few plastic heads and random parts.

Thursday: Goofed off because I wanted to. No, not really. Just wanted to see if you were paying attention. ;) I forgot what I did that day. Do you know?

Friday: 7 am started looking for a storage shed on Craigslist. At 7:15, I scored when I found an 8'x10' shed for $135!!!! Told father-in-law, Wayne, and he took measurements and said, yes, it'll fit. So, we went to go look at it. It was the most beautiful shed I had ever seen! Now, I'm no country bumpkin, but I've been so pumped up about all of this that the other day I actually was drooling in Home Depot while staring at a handsome Ryobi Drill set. I want one in pink please! Oh, what this vending bug has done to me!! Carrying on... offered $120 and paid him.

Saturday: Brought a big strong man with us to help take down the shed. It was in 6 pieces because the sides were all reinforced with small wood strips so they were heavy and held together during transport. Done put together by 9:30am. fab because it was humid. Again. :/

7/22 Got locations loaded into Vend-trak. Had problems downloading to a GPS unit from Mapquest. Couldn't figure it out on Vend-trak. So what the heck, by 10pm, I finally decided we would just wing-it and see what happens. We cut out a few places so we could hit the majority of them and voila!

7/23 Serviced 8 locations with Wayne and picked up 3 machines from 2 locations. I'll have you know, I spilled candy 3 times at 3 locations. Finally figured out what I was doing wrong. $91.25. Wondered the whole day if I even put on deodorant. That is something I need to add to my checklist of things to bring. LOL
7/24 In-laws left, cleaned some machines, did some admin work, Bought more candy and had Sam's Club hold it for me.
7/25 Got a late start in the day.Picked up Candy from Sam's. Serviced a few locations. Ordered business cards. $56.25.
7/26 Serviced a few easy ones The easiest ones yet. $54.25 On an emotional high! Talked to some crazy people but not letting them get me down!
7/27 Stayed local again, serviced 5, removed one. $93.25. One location had over $60 because there were 5 machines there and that is the one of the photo above AFTER I serviced them. I so wish I took a before photo!! That gumball machine dispenses 2 at a time also. Great idea, if you think about it. ;)

Which brings me to today. Grand Total for the week $295. One word: Tired. Next word: Excited. Next word: Bed.
Other photos are of son making a design with the quarters and son and I unloading the truck. Notice the little red wagon in the background. Too cute! My boy, of course. ;)

Thanks again everyone. I'll try to update often. And definitely put up more photos. Night night.

By the way, my company is called VenDana, LLC. Should I change my handle on here to reflect that or leave it? What do you think?

Well worth the read and nice to see the enthusiasm and work ethic, building something great is never easy but those that are determined usually find the strength and the way. Very thrilled for you.

So how much are you expected to gross from this route? How did you determine that this route was a profitable investment? Thanks for sharing.
