  1. Hmm @ $50 a month with a 50% GP you pay for it in 1 year, and its better than having that machine sit in your garage for nothing doing nothing...
  2. While the trademark holder is the ultimate determiner of how the mark will be used. You can use a logo is "good faith" if it promotes the product of which you are selling and you make it clear that that "Coca-Cola is the registered trademark of the Coca-Cola Company... etc.." Of course Coke must notify use of the improper use of their mark and show damages... which would be difficult in this case, since you are a reseller..
  3. Your doing pretty good about 75 per machine per week is good. Unless you think you'll get more $$ from additional machines or the client requests them... I'd leave it at that.
  4. keeping chocolate cool is key to my business being in the desert area of california where temps reach 100 regularly. What your taking about will cause an air leak in your soda machine and it will freeze up and the compress will burn out before you keep your chocolate cool. 1. move machine out of direct sunlight 2. make sure machine is some where that gets some A/C 3. if you can't do those... pull the chocolate. If you have full size snack machines... you can by after-market coolers, they cost about 200 but they work pretty good.
  5. Just get a little plug in tester with the lights to check for ground and voltage. I use GFCI pigtails instead of surge protectors... GFCI will keep your clients from getting shocked by a stripped wire... will blow before a surge protector. Dont use extension cords... Two machines can be plugged into one outlet... should be ok. I don't drill holes or cover wires... because I try to place them where there are outlets.
  6. You can buy an anteres machine for 100 some people give them away... they are a pain in the &$... My recommendation is to start with a cheap full sized soda machine. Find one on craigslist and get someone to deliver it... make sure it has a bill validator on it.
  7. wow.... your asking for a lot in one post. so 1. Yes you need a business license in whatever city you're based in. 2. I'm in CA to you need a Seller's Permit from the Board of Equalization. 3. You can buy products without paying sales tax, however you must pay quarterly sales taxes to the state. 4. The state requires that you have a sticker on each machine which states your company name, address, phone number and sellers permit ID. 5. I have a satellite combo, why put i-vend on it? and yes you can, but y? 6. Read the post herein.. they touch on the product subjects
  8. Coke and Pepsi are not giving away machines like they used to. First you have to have enough volume to support the minimum purchases. Second you HAVE to sell bottles.. this is a deal breaker right there. Third, good luck with getting a machine in less than 30 days and problems with machines MUST be fixed by coke/pepsi techs. They will not be out there the next day. I have two coke machine owned by coke... took over 30 days to get the machines and then one was the wrong machine. 90 more days to get the right machine. I'm required to purchase 15 cases of products each month for the machines... @ .87 a unit, which is ok and I can move the product, because I use the product in my other locations... If these were the only locations I had I have 8 cases of flat product a month.
  9. I don't account for cash in each machine every week. Its too much. I only only account for it when I place the machine and when I remove the machine from the account. Then I have a petty cash account from which I keep $50 in change and them make a journal entry to adjust change put in the machines during the week. Eventually it would balance out.
  10. if you park your car in a parking lot, someone told you to move it. Would it be ok for them to open your car and take possesion? No, tow it away to a storage sure.. but damage it no. You have the right to move it, but you also have the legal obligation to prevent damage to it, doesn't matter if he knows or not. I replace a vendor at a location, and the guy never came to pick his machine up. The owner of the company just moved the machine out to the street and it was vandalized and damaged. The vendor sued owner and me in small claims for the damages, I was released... but the owner who moved the machines, had to pay for the machines contents and damages. Don't get caught up
  11. haha... Cold food doesn't have the profit I'd like for the effort. It makes money, but you have to be on top of your inventory and make sure the tempature of the machines is ok... food is within its sale dates, discard food that doesn't sell... etc... If you have 20 or 30 food machines I supposse it would be good.. But I have 5 now... I'm replacing them all with Frozen Machines now to reduce shrinkage, and expanding product lines.. I would take every coffee machine I have out to a field and blow them up if I could. Most coffee machines have more moving parts than the space shuttle... and they need to be cleaned and maintained constantly. I actually hate the coffee machines more than the food. I do them because they get me the snack and soda accounts...
  12. remember it doesn't matter what you think "abandoned" is... its what the law thinks it is. Would hate to see you get in trouble for not knowing the law.
  13. 501 is a multi-price machine.. you can get the manual on DN website
  14. Well thats not such an ethical dilemma as a legal one. If the guy has serviced the machine in the last month, he hasn't abandoned it. If you want to service the building move his machine to corner or some out of the way place and put your machine there. I don't know about your local laws, but to claim abandoned property here in CA, you have to notifiy the sheriff and post a notice, in some counties you have to publicize the notice in a newspaper for 3 weeks. Whatever you do.. don't drill out the lock or take the money or product. I would move his machine... put my machine in there, notify the sheriff, and post a notice on the machine that if not removed from the property in 30 days is will be considered abandoned.
  15. Well I completely disagree w/ WestCoast... I've located over 100+ full sized locations and never did door to door. The best locators in California are based in the midwest... they don't door to door... You only have so much time in a day... you can call 100 locations a day... and you can only visit 20-30. Its a numbers game, you'll get one appointment for every 200 calls. 2-3 appts a week close one your doing good. You probably can't fully locate over the phone... but you can get an appointment and close in person. Price, Machine Types, type of snacks and sodas, service intervals are all the questions you'll get. Referrals are also probably necessary for bigger accounts. My suggestion is buy a location or two and then build your market around those locations. If you really want to start from scratch, map out your geography, find the large businesses in that area... and work down. 200+ employees first, 100+ 50+... and so on. Make calls everyday... get your appointments and eventually you start getting appointments... you'll get a placement or too... Good luck
