  1. By chance would you happen to have a pic? I looked at it with your pvc suggestion in mind and I was struggling to envision how to do it/how it worked. It seemed like you would need a 1.5" or so pipe?
  2. Now this may sound dumb... I do know basic tools though so I'm curious. I thought an adjustable wrench and a crescent wrench were the same thing?
  3. maybe I should buy this https://www.ebay.com/i/282423468188?chn=ps
  4. I thought so! I don't think I've seen a crescent wrench that small before, maybe I'll have to visit harbor freight and see about finding one? Or is it more specialty? Mayve really teeny tiny vice grips? I have a job that supplements 100% of my income because I have yet to pull any wages from the business, just reinvesting it all... So I usually can find one day a week to escape for an entire day to run my route. I usually can find several days in a week to hurry back over to an account before or after I work though... which is why I often times will leave and come back on a later day. Y
  5. DOes anyone here know how to replace the button? I am lucky in that the machine is intact and works fine... except I'm missing the bill acceptor cassette and the top button was popped out - but still works. I tried "popping" the top button back in place today but it was a little difficult. I spent about 15 minutes with it but ultimately got nowhere and I was crunched for time.... It looks like you have to pop the top part in first, but I couldn't do it? Is there a trick? Or maybe do you have to undo the little screws above/below it? Not sure.... Hoping to fix this one myself, for a learning experience and also to mitigate the damages of being robbed!!
  6. Interesting, I'm trying to envision it but I think I'll have to see it in person to better understand how that's done!
  7. If I were to go with the best possible lock for all my machines, what do you guys recommend? Anyone have a link? Not sure if you all would agree on one type/brand, or if this topic is worthy of a whole other discussion?
  8. Can't believe it, my DNCB 440 got robbed! This machine is literally in the laundry room of a retirement community that has a gatehouse, unbelievable! Naturally, I have some questions.... 1) How the heck did they do it? They literally opened it up, took the coin bucket and bill cassette, and closed the machine??? 2) As you can see in the pics, the damage (it seems to me???) is that they knocked out the top selection button, stole the cassette,.... and that's it?? I'm probably going to have a repair guy go fix the button/make sure the machine is working fine (and replace the cassette).
  9. Was told by the forum that "you can't receive messages":

*Feel free to message me though*

We had talked earlier. Can you please remind me of your number and your location?

I'm waiting on some things to play out in my other "career" but am getting very close to being ready for some machines. I presume you are somewhat/completely a machine expert?

When I'm ready I'll have some questions for you! I am growing curious about slave machines.... And am trying to FULLY/entirely understand MDB achines, though I think I'll only truly understand by doing... I.E. MDB conversions, etc.

That reply invokes so many questions...! Like for one, you are a 32-year expert... but have you found garage door repairs to be more profitable?

However, more importantly: Are you saying that once your machines are gone, they're gone for good and you won't be selling anymore?

I do not think I am big enough or have the means to buyout your machines. I don't have the knowledge either..... But I would love to talk...

Again, your post invokes another businessman's interest. Perhaps I could even help you liquidate - I help another company liquidate golf carts and I do alright!

The repair business has just died and there's not enough to support all the people in that field.  After the depression (what the "great recession" really was) I stubbornly held out longer than I could afford to which put me in major debt.  That along with the number of deadbeat vendors large and small, I couldn't stay busy enough in the new age of micro markets replaceing vending accounts.  That and the reluctance for other vending companies to pay me a viable salary forced me to get a job in another field.  I also didn't want to build a vending route up again and start that over either.  The golden age of vending is long gone though I know it can still work for small vendors.  Not all large accounts will go to micro markets but more and more of them are.  You will eventually lose locations to someone doing micro markets so you need to be prepared to move in that direction within a couple of years or you won't survive unless you only concentrate on smaller locations, which all my machine would be perfect for.

This post makes me want to reconsider my direction. Micro Markets, ugh!

As for now, I will be in touch for some machines at some point.

  10. I guess both! Also, I notice that most honor box guys "swap" out the boxes at the accounts... do you simply pre-kit at home and swap the boxes at location? If so, do you use the leftover product to kit for the following day?
  11. Thanks for the offer! I am wondering about the text/stickers for the boxes. Do you make and print your own?
  12. I just wanted to say that I was just late-night cruising the forums to learn and i stumbled upon your thread. I know well of honor boxes and have always heard they were great. I just bought some vending machines and figured I would just stick to the big stuff. After reading your thread I began to realize that I have some accounts who I would deem extremely trustworthy that requested snacks (and I just didn't think I could justify a snack machine...) I know I don;t want to mess with any of the Chinese combo machines, which would provide me an affordable option for these accounts.... Basically: I have always heard that honor boxes were good, and realized after reading your thread how perfect they could be for me. I bought 20 from Cameron like you. I realized they could be perfect for current accounts, but also perfect for low-cost growth opportunities - which i what I'm seeking. I really want to fill my whole work schedule with vending, but was struggling with figuring out how I could do that with the money I have. Reading your thread really gaVe me a great idea, and I think it will fill in a lot of my schedule - while also providing my drink only accounts some food options! Needless to say: I AM VERY HAPPY I READ YOUR THREAD. I CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY HONOR BOXES IN THE MAIL!!
