  1. Thanks, It is good to be back posting again.
  2. I haven't been on here for ages due to me getting a new job. I no longer have the flexibility to do vending as I please so I can totally understand the time thing. I used to work 3-11p and now do 7:30-4:30. Finding time to service routes has been exteremly hard. I want to do honor boxes, however, I have to figure out a way to do it within my time constraints and still be profitable.
  3. I have an LYPC. Dont get it. The price of replacement parts too high, and it is a pain in the butt to service. In my opinion I would go with Oak, or A&A global. I think as someone who is just starting out, the machines from either of these two places will give you the most bang for the buck. I have not used Northwestern, which are a top quality machine as well, but the for an average location, the globe size is just too big. I have found that using a smaller globe (Oak Vista 300, PO89 300) saves me money on the machines and reduces my candy costs. I love my Oaks.
  4. I think it really depends on the people who are buying the candy. I've found that younger people seem to prefer the fruit flavored candies over the chocolate candie. But, every location is different. I have a factory which regularly does $65 + per month, but I can't sell more than about $1 per month in Skittles there. I have another location where I sell tons of skittles.
  5. Umm...if you don't take the top off you can't fill it with candy. There are only 3 pieces. Take the lid off, take the globe off and then pick up the body and dump the coins in the bag. I understand the need for speed though. If you only have $5 in the machine, extend the cycle time or relocate the machine. You want to make each stop worth your time.
  6. I tried Aldi about a year ago and was told that they would love to have a machine, but corporate doesn't allow them to have any. I got the same answer from Save-a-Lot which looks almost exactly like Aldi.
  7. I like those locations. I want more. They don't seem to get kicked out as often. I have a factory break room that does $70ish a month.
  8. When I service my route, I usually wear khaki's and a nice polo shirt. Every once in a while I will wear a nice pair of jeans. I would love to get a nice polo with my logo on it, but I don't have a logo nor do I have the money for one. Locating is a different story. I will usually wear a tie and sometimes a suit. The way I see it, I want to be taken seriously and make a great first impression.
  9. Hell yea! $25 bucks a machine is a steal even if they are Vendstars. You could buy and sell them on ebay to double your money or clean them up and put them into service.
  10. I keep my service area to about a 30-40 mile radius. I have most of my machines within 5 miles, but, due to the smaller market I live in, 80,000 for the county (city of only 32,000). I am starting to expand in the much larger market which is about 25 miles away (well over 200,000 if you include college students).
  11. Its always interesting to know what the competition is in your area. I have 3 or so competitors in my small market of about 30,000. One is a large rack operator from outside the are, the others are charity operators who have fewer locations than I do from what I can tell. As far as Waco, TX, I don't know of any operators from Waco, but I recall seeing someone on here from Waco, but I couldn't say who or if they were just a fly by night newbie.
  12. Purple and yellow are interesting color choices. It looks good, and there will be no mistaking which machine is yours. It'll definately stand out.
  13. I about choked on a gumball when I saw that price.....Run! 10 months gross is a pretty decent number to go by. I'd insult him and offer $50 a location and my phone number. There aren't that many people out there looking for vending machine routes.
  14. $40! I was just looking at the Beaver catalog and it looks more like $13.11 before S/H.
