  1. Hey Eddie with all that Caribe experience, think you could score me a couple locations here in Costa Rica? Limon specifically, bus stations preferred.
  2. I think I might owe you a few Sherlock. Our home in Costa Rica is always open to folks who help us achieve our goals. Come on down dude! We can throw one of those white faced monkeys(or pollo if you prefer) on the old barbie and throw down a few swills. Staying at the Rancho Bonita Gardens does not cost you a dime once you are here. However, we may put you to work for couple hours in the mornings helping us in the shop. Later on, we can have some real fun and go to the bar and collect some monedas from the Beavers and drink up the profits! Pura Vida
  3. Not only did he deliver as promised but well beyond what was expected. Anyone doing business with Mark can be assured you are dealing with a true professional. We spent weeks getting this little operation going including export/import logistics. He was always available for consultation. Mark is into more than just coin pushers. He designs and manufactures some pretty incredible interactive vending machines as well. Send me a message and I will get you his contact info. I think he belongs to Vendiscuss but can't remember his user name. :)
  4. Well we sent him a couple of thousand dollars upfront to ship a finished pusher machine, some parts and finished sub-assemblies so we could start manufacturing these things down here in Costa Rica. Guess What happened???
  5. yes they do. Look for "Googleheads" of most Congressional people and House of Representatives figurines. Closeout deals should appear after the first week of November. Just kidding. Have you ever considered recycling campaign buttons and bumper stickers? Collect all 435?
  6. Hence the reason it took me 5 tries to get the label posted....belching out loud.
  7. This is how I get almost all of our locations now. September 15th, Independence Day in Costa Rica, I decided I wanted to try out vending fish food at a 'catch your own' trout restaurant. Walked in with a two headed Beaver half full of trout grub and parked it right next to the pond, ordered a beer. Waited until the owner saw enuff kids slamming in coins before I went into my spiel. I wasn't even 30 seconds into my pitch before he asked me how much those machines cost. Done deal!! He could not believe I was providing the machine, the food, servicing the machine....and still paying him a 20% commission. After 3 beers($4.50), 12 kids and 1.5 hours these machines had taken in over $6.00. Cost of goods about 30 cents.
  8. I really don't think that is necessary. But maybe computers are different south of your border? I am connected with a 3G cell phone connection @ 460Kbps and I have no problems.
  9. I am in Costa Rica. I use Skype on a a daily basis to make business and personal calls all over the world.. I even use Skype for video calls as well. Skype to Skype is free. Otherwise, you need to establish a Skype account to draw from. Rates are dirt cheap.
  10. So as it happens....another success story. How are things going living on $20.00 a month after expenses? Realistically, you have a long ways to go before you quit your day job.
  11. Whatever it takes. If I I lose a location, I haul the rack next door or down the block until it finds a home. No Rack Goes Homeless is my motto. If I can't find a home for an orphan that has been kicked out....I just throw it over the bridge and go home.
  12. We buy them from Rhode Island Novelty. Several different styles. We cap them ourselves (2 to a 1.1 cap) and throw them in our mix. We only use mixes. We have found that is the only way to keep our costs down. Our current equivalent vend is now sitting at twenty cents. Much better than the 0.18 vend the first part of this year.
  13. Yeah, but the worst day in Paradise is still better than the 9-5. We just take it for what is worth and move on to tomorrow. Don't feel sorry for us. We have some more great plans in the works.
  14. Crime of opportunity. The owner of the machines did not have the funds to put more product in the machines. We supplied the product under an option to purchase the machines and locations so the operator could maintain. We got a premium for supplying product, of course, but in the meantime operator came into some dough and duped me. Plain and simple...I would not have supplied merchandise nor taken the time to facilitate the export of the merchandise without our agreement for me to purchase his business. I only wanted him/her to come out 'even steven'. Everyting above happened including closed locations, bastardized machines, kick-outs, etc>>>> Lesson learned....You buy a route...Change out the machines/switch machines around/new locks....on the spot.
