AZVendor
Did you ever replace the evaporator motor and maybe the fan blade?
Snack Man 2000
I did exchange it with one from another machine. Same exact model. The other machine runs fine with the evaporator fan from the noisy machine.
AZVendor
Did you swap the motors with the fan blades attached? There is also a hub under the fan blade. If you took the blades off you might be missing the hub.
Snack Man 2000
No, I exchanged the entire fan/shroud assembly. It ran fine for about a week and a half.
Snack Man 2000
The last thing I did to stop the sound was set the temp to 41 and mad sure the door was closing tight. That's when I thought it was fixed.
AZVendor
You probably have stripped-out screws holding the shroud in place and that's what the fan motor is attached to so it works loose and vibrates. USI stuff is always build with sheet metal screws that are often one and done. Get larger screws and replace any loose ones.
Snack Man 2000
I'm pretty sure I didn't. I'm super careful not to over tighten the screws when I work on a machine. The machine was making this loud roar from the factory. The fan shroud assembly was perfectly tight when I exchanged it tye first time when the noise started. Snack Man 2000
The engeneer that I spoke to from Wittern said there are other machines in coastal areas that have the same issues. He said he would send me an infrared camera to record inside if it happens again. He is baffled.
AZVendor
If you bought it new and they can't tell you how to fix it then tell them to send you a new machine or to fly their roving engineer in to fix it, and not just when he's in your area the next time. If that's their response then I'd tell them to send a new mach freight prepaid and when their engineer gets there he can spend his time to package it up to ship back. Snack Man 2000
I am the second own of the machines. I bought a few from a guy that lost a large account, and ran them for only a short while. But they have brand new ones with the same issues. He said he has to solve the issue asap.

Snack Man 2000
The bottom is how they looked from the factory. They have 3 pieces of foil tape on the center. One of the fans had the tape coming off, so I replaced it with Gorilla tape.

AZVendor
Did they tell you what the tape was for? To insulate the motor or something. It doesn't really make sense why they would have it on there unless they expected the motor to rub on something which again leads to a poor design from USI again. Snack Man 2000
They said it is there to keep moisture out of the motor. It does look like they would have used a different motor since this one has holes that can let moisture in. The aluminum tape was coming off of one of the fans. Snack Man 2000
Okay, so I purchased a brand new Vendo 621 to replace the Wittern/ helicopter/ lawn mower/ nightmare. Have been running the 3578 for 24 hours and haven't heard the sound. I even left the door open for 30 minutes to see if it would sound off. I am wondering if it only happens when the machine is completely full? The engeneer from Wittern is sending me a thermal camera to put inside in hopes it will shed some light on the issue. Snack Man 2000
The person I got the machine from had 8 of them for sale because he lost a large account. I now understand why he lost the account. It has come to my attention that there are others from the lot that have the same exact issue.
