Someone mentioned 501's...

Left is a 501, but it is a single price T series, so no cc readers.

Right one is a 501E, CC capable. But, you'll have to check the serial tag, if it says SIID somewhere in the model, you are good to go for cc readers.

501T's are very different from 501E's.  They are all good machines really but it also depends on what's inside.  Nothing wrong with having 501T's but you would do yourself justice by having a lot of 501E's.

If it doesn't have the SIID I'm assuming there is a board upgrade I could do to make it CC capable?

If it's single price then don't bother trying to upgrade it.  If it's an SII board there was a MDB harness for it but you certainly won't get cash sales reporting from it.  If it's an MPC board then there's no MDB possibility.
