  1. Hello, I am new to the forums and just introducing myself. My business is brand new so I am here to learn and post updates on my route to possibly help others once I figure out my way around.
  2. So, Arkansas has excluded candy and soft drinks from the lower grocery tax. The problem is their stupid definition of candy. "Candy is defined as a preparation of sugar, honey, or other natural or artificial sweeteners in combination with chocolate, fruits, nuts, or other ingredients or flavorings in the form of bars, drops, or pieces. Candy does not include preparation containing flour and must not require refrigeration." I've discovered that this has also happened in other states. Anyone else had to deal with this? f so, do you know where I can get my hands on a list? Thanks!

  7. Hi all, Anyone out there know any good distributors on Long Island, for bulk toy and candy products? I picked up some machines and need a local competitively priced place. Thanks
  8. I have 27 heads at one location and will definitely need some variety. Please help me out by naming as many different candies below because I would love to improve the selection and possibly customer engagement. I have 15 1" heads and 9 bulk candy heads which are my main concern.
  9. Anybody know anything about these machines? Age? Where to find parts? Are they obsolete? What should I check out before putting on location. (Its going at a location I own, so any breakdown wont upset the "owner" too much..lol). Just want to get familiar with this machine as Ive only owned soda machines. The model number is S2000 however cant find much info on them online. Just bought this for $225 and everything seems to work. AND found the coin box FULL of change! Looking around the net, figured it was an awesome deal. Also cant find flavor strips for this machine anywhere. Any info or experience anyone has with these machines would be greatly appreciated. (And I did happen to find the manual online).
  10. Craigslist has an add for 4 almost brand new (whatever that means) U-Turn Terminator 8 selection units with keys fresh out of the box listed for $250 OBO. Most of these parts look plastic to me and I don't think they would last compared to the more durable metal machines. What is your opinions?

  12. Do you clean your gumball machine? If so, how often, and what do you use? If not, here are a few tips on maintaining a sanitary gumball machine. When it comes to caring for your gumball machine, periodic cleaning is imperative, not just for appearances sake, but also for good hygiene. First, you want to make sure the machine is empty; make sure to throw away any product that has expired according to the manufacturer’s label. Second, for best results, clean your machine using a “dry clean” method. In other words, do not spray any chemicals or cleaners inside the machine. It can contaminate the new product when you restock. However, unscented alcohol-based wipes are acceptable, along with sturdy paper towels and nylon brushes. Do not use harsh cleaners (i.e. scrubbing powder or scrubbing liquid). Once you clean the machine, give approximately 24 hours for the machine to dry. Be sure to clean the corners of the inside of the machine. They are difficult to get to, but most bacteria and germs fester in those areas. For consistency, clean the outside of the machine utilizing the same method. It is important to clean the outside more often because it soils a lot easier. You can also polish the outside of the machine to remove any grease marks, fingerprints or to reduce the appearance of scratches. What do you use to clean your gumball machine? We want to hear back from you!

  14. Hi everybody, I posted here before...and decided to purchase 5 bulk vending machines...3 heads. 1 is for my nephew (he is 11 and wants to get into vending) and 4 are for me. I currently run a full service vending company and am doing very well. I am a medium sized company in MA (14 locations, about 45 machines placed and 6 in need of a home) I got these machines to: 1) diversify my business. I want to take over vending in my area in all aspects 2) test to see if bulk vending is a sustainable business. The costs associated are much cheaper than full service so I thought 4 machines is a good start to track numbers, growth, etc 3) shits and giggles. I figured if they don't make money, I will sell for what I bought for ($100 each) What advice can you guys give me about bulk vending? How often do you service? What is the average monthly income for this end of the industry? Where do you buy your product from? What sells best? Basically what do I need to know in order for these machines to grow my bottom line sales figure? Also this will help me get my nephews little business off the ground! (I took him out with me last Saturday...he LOVED IT!) If this works, I would love to grow the bulk end as aggressively as I am growing the full service end, and bulk seems much cheaper to scale. Thanks for your knowledge! Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow vendors!

  19. hey everybody! I am new to the vending world.. figured I will start with bulk vending to start learning the ropes... I found what seems to be a good deal on craigslist for a route and types of machines... I would really appreciate any feedback, tips, questions to ask... honestly anything helps... If you have 5 minutes to talk on the phone to help me out, EVEN BETTER! I would really appreciate it! I will be meeting up with him tonight to talk about the route... The add pretty much states the following (the post expired or I would actually post it)... "$2500 for 12 machines already located... 5 extra machines to expand route... supposedly it grosses $400-$600 a month" Selling because this was a test route because he is in soda and snack vending but lives in another city... this is a commute for him to service... The Gross seems a little too good to be true (but then again I am new to this)... and feel it might be too expensive and says he doesn't have records or anything for poof of what they actually gross... he sent me an email with the type of location and type of machines located there... Here is the list of locations, with the types of machines: Dry Cleaners, Reeces, Bubble, Pnut, Mike&Ike. 4 selection UTurn. Corporate Office, Hot Tamales, Gum, Skittles, Pnut. 4 selection UTurn Dry Cleaners, HT, G, Pnut, Skittles. 4 selection Uturn. Real Estate office, Pnut, Reeses. Two head Oak. 20. I am just getting started at this, and we have visited over 100 potential locations in the last few weeks, with no successes. Typically it has been "contact our regional offices", and then the corporate office doesn't let us talk to anyone and instead makes us leave a message, and they never return the call. In case this is relevant, we are in a "college town" of 300,000 people, and have created a brochure with pictures of the triple head machines and the details of the commission/charity process and what benefits a machine can provide. I had read that cold calling typically is successful 10% of the time, but we are at 0% and things don't seem to be looking up. Anyone with similar experiences that they have overcome? At what point do we conclude there simply isn't a market for these machines in our area? Any suggestions will be very welcome. Thanks! John
  21. So, I am really new to the vending business. I have about 6 TripleVend candy stands right now. I purchase all of my candy at Sams Club. I am a little concerned about my portion size. What is a fair amount to give on every turn? Below are my current portions... will this be profitable or should I lower them? Peanut M&M's 8-10 Plain M&M's 20-25 Skittles 25-29 Reeses Pieces 12-15 Mike & Ikes 8-10 What do you think fair and profitable portion amounts should be? Thanks for your help!
  22. I was wondering if anyone utilized cheaper candy and sold it for a quarter. You can get many candies, laffy taffy, nerds, mini candy bars or even dum-dums for around $.05. Charity vending has this on their website. I have one location that has 2 boxes(one at each cash register) and I am going to experiment with this. Any thoughts?
  23. I am a newbie with the honor boxes, but I have been doing bulk for a while. The mint boxes really have done so much better than bulk. What are the reasons for this? 1. more flexibilty with pay options(bulk has to have quarters) 2. better recognition of charity donations(pink boxes) 3. easier to transport since it is individually wrapped(purse or pockets) 4. options different than bulk(blow pops, mini candy bars and yorks) 5. more hygenic(back to the wrapped thing again) 6. bulks seems to have a stigma of being for children and honor boxes seem to be for anyone These are few of my ideas. Does anyone have any other thoughts? My warped mind may have missed a few. I have noticed I get mostly dollars, so I think point 1 may be part of this.
