Hey guys, i think im ready to get my feet wet. this is my first post to the blog but ive been doing research for weeks. i recently sold off the remaining parts of my tropical fish business which comprised of 30+ fish tanks. i ran that from age 13-17 and experience rather large returns but i also worked 30 hour weeks at age 15.... im ready for my next quest in the world of being your own boss... going to college this next year im moving toward a less time consuming approach to making money.

im digin the forum and have learned a lot on here thus far. i secured a buy for 8 eagle gumball/candy machines on a rack. the set needs a little TLC and elbow grease. the price for everything i negotiated to 120 dollars. is this a good deal? from what ive learned this is a relatively good deal and i should experience minor cost in replacing a key and a lid. i also may need to paint one or two and i do want to make stands to hold 2 per location totaling 4 locations to "get my feet wet."

my questions are as followed:

is this a good deal? thats 15 bucks a head plus gas to pick them up totaling $135.

have any of you ever made a metal "poll" stand? if so, how do you do it or where to buy it?

where do you get replacement keys???

heres the link to the set im picking up in 4 days. http://dayton.craigs...3418112818.html

thanks everyone :)

Yeah, Eagle's are great machines! Nice to see someone else around my age getting in the business (I'm almost 19). Make sure you clean em up real good, and they should look nice! That's a great deal! I would pay that for em. Below is a link to a stand. You'd need a double bar, if you want to put two heads on each stand though, but those are cheap. My dad makes mine, but he's an experienced welder, so your best bet is to buy some. Keys...if they don't have keys, you might as well drill them out and buy new locks ($5 each) because you won't know what the key number is.

No these units brand new would cost around $75 each/head. So...that 8 head rack would cost about $600, so at $120 or whatever you're paying, you can afford to pay the extra money on stands, locks and double bars. My dad and I got to our local scrap metal yard and buy about a 1 1/2" diameter pole, cut them to 29" in length, weld a small (4"x4") base with 2 holes drilled into it to bolt on the machine/double bar. You need about a 12"x12" or 12"x15"(we chose) for you base, but make sure you use some heavy steel, as you don't want your machines to fall over. If you look at my profile, in my pictures of machines, there is a picture of 2 blue Beaver brand machines and 4 Beaver brand machines on 2 stands, sitting next to eachother. Look at those pics to get an idea. My dad built those, and they are better than one would buy from a factory!

I made some pipe stands a while back. Just cut a flat piece of steel 1/4" X 12" X 15" rectangular and weld a pipe bushing to the center. Screw in your pipe and put a flange on top. You can use 3/4" or 1" either size will work fine. Never tried to make them round though, my cutting skills need a little work.Grind the slag off and paint. Glue some indoor/outdoor carpet on the bottom to prevent the rust from staining floors. Mine work great and nobody has ever commented on them being home made. I use wood for stands as well.

What do you mean double gum ball? Is quill an online website as I've never heard of it. Will I end up spending more on locks, stands and wheels than the units are worth new?

Quill.com is an online office supply store. They always have free shipping & by far, the best price for Runts candy.
