Poplady1
We are closing a large school district in California. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this machine. Each high school campus will require 7 to 9 machines for a total of 5 campuses. I am wondering if we can cut down on the number of machines by offering these units. I have found them refurbished for about $3500 each. Do they hold up? Any feedback appreciated.

If they have been upgraded to the latest software version, upgraded "hands" and new wire harness sets to the elevator and hand setup then they are OK machines, not good, not great. Problems with the machine begin with the cabinet, you need 36" minimum openings to get them in, the doors only open 90 degrees making installation even more difficult. I think that in a school environment you will also have more issues with shaking of machines. With the Vendo setup the facings are susceptible to tilting and falling over when shaken, especially narrow bottles like the Nestea or Fuze tea by Coke. If they fall out of the facing then it will prevent the hand from finding home after vending and shutting down the machine. If the hand tries to grab the tilted bottle you also have a increased chance of the bottle being dropped and having the same problem. With the upgrades mine are pretty reliable but I have them in fairly low volume location, 2-3 cases a week in a office environment and they don't get shaken and pushed around. I'm satisfied enough with them that I won't bother replacing them but i'm not going out of my way to find more of them either. For me to buy any more Vues the price would have to drop to around 1500. I'd look at some of the big Royals - they're tough as nails and will vend anything with no shims required. I've even got the 23 oz Arizona products in some of mine. They don't look as hi-tech as the robotic machines but would serve your purpose better in this type of environment.
Sparta_Automation
Go with Royals RVV. I have a Vendo Vue 40, in a low use account. It failed (Y-Motor) and I have not been able to fix it. I recently contacted another vending operator in the area that also fixes machines, told him my error and his response was "I have had several of these that even the factory could not fix....so good luck". Travis That's a poor answer. There is no reason they can't be fixed. If just swapping out parts didn't work look at the wiring harness behind the cash box. It is an area that can chaff the wires and either cut or ground them.

If you're fixed on the glassfront machines, the consensus here seems to lean toward the Bevmax 4 or the Royal Vision. I started a thread on this subject a few months ago with limited response but it appears that the Vendo Vue would be the one to avoid.
Poplady1
Well it doesn't look good for the Vendo Vu even Randy at Vending World suggests going in another direction. Back to the Royals. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. Yep, If Randy tells you "don't go there" then don't go there. Ps. Don't mention Royals to Randy - he hates them (it's an old story not particularly related to their newer models)

Hi Bev, I don't think you will find by offering a glass fronts you will be able to cut down on the amount of machine you will need for your sites as most glass fronts have smaller capacities than traditional stack vendors. You will be able to offer a lot more selections on a glass front than a standard stack but they will need servicing a lot more often. Another thing that you should think about is the type of product you will be vending.. if you will be vending short shelf life products like juice & milk you may need a machine with FIFO capabilities. Vendo, Royal & Dixie Narco glass fronts all have there positives & negatives so its best to work out which one best suits your needs
Grciam222
I bought two vendo vue 40 refurbished for $3500. I am taking the risk. The vendor said that he is replacing the robot and hardness. I looked for a Bevmax2 or 3 refurbished but not luck. I needed for a high volume location for can and bottles.
wheelermj
I have 20 Vendo vues, anywhere from 2-7 years old. It's true they have their share of problems, but they do their job. I have since switched to the Bevmax for any new Glass front machines that I get, I have 5 Bevmax machines and haven't had any major problems in the 6-8 months that I have had them. There are some things that I really like about Vendos that I wish the Bevmax did. With the Vendo you can increase the amount of shelves from the standard 5 shelves to 7 shelves if you wanted to just sell cans giving you 56 different selections and almost 450 can capacity, I have a few locations that have 6 shelves allowing me to sell a lot of cans, but still provide some bottles. The other benefit to the Vendo is that the shelves slide out for easy filling and self rotating, like filling a snack machine, first in first out. The common problems I have are broken wiring harnesses, specifically the chain harness connected to the arm, coin jams from the chute to the drop box, Y motor needing replacement, dropped bottles, and bad control boards. Downside is the Vendo is a beast to move, I can't count the amount of times I have had to try and swing the machine through doors, or take the door completely off the machine to get it in a room, also you are limited on where you can put it. You need to leave 6-8 inches on the left side of the machine to allow the door to open properly, so no machine right next to it on the left side nor can you put it right next to wall on the left side, same issue you might have with a stack machine but has been an issue in some of my locations, is ultimately why I now use Bevmax over the royal or Vendo. I tried both the Royal and the Bevmax, and both seem great. The Bevmax for me is easier to move, fewer limitations on placement, and overall a better looking machine. I had customers complain about the royal because of the black interior made some of the items hard to see or read.(IBC Rootbeer is not visible in the Royal) I hope this helps. Sorry it was so long. reel
For instance the drink pickup to delivery is faster and smoother, the coin mech can slideout which makes it easier to work on and fill and the coin shute is loads better and far superor to the previous model. Plus you can buy as an acessory an insert onto the glass on the inside which will allow it to heat up and remove any moisture from inside the machine thus making it suitable for outside locations. Also has a panel on the front ready for credit card facilities plus there are other minor refinements . It was already superior to the Bevmax 4, i think after the refinements made its without a doubt the King of glassfront drink vendors. There was a super deal going on the old RVV 500, however i opted to pay an extra 2k plus to grab the newbie.

I like the idea of the faster pickup & delivery as this was one of the only things I sore as an advantage on the Bevmax 4 was its delivery speed. I wish I could be a member of the IVMOA as we don't get any super deals here.. I mite have to give Darryl a call & tell him I am a friend of yours to see if that gets me a discount. Was there any news on the Royal combo that (you mentioned in another post) was undergoing testing?
reel
No news on a Combo at all, i doubt mentioning my name will get you a good deal lol. They had a show special on the older RVV500 for last Saturday only which was priced at 6k which was a super price, i think there was about 14 machines left at that time. You Kiwis are rolling in the cash and you you can afford to pay more lol

Us kiwis rolling in cash? That coming from someone who can afford to pay an extra $2000 for the latest version Royal Vision but I guess that was just pocket change to you Ron!! In saying that.. I would have gone for the newer version too

PinkJazzX
I would agree with all the points that the Vendo Vue is probably the worst of the three current glass front machines. As for D-N BevMax 4 vs. Royal Vision, that seems to be heavily debated by many, however, I personally prefer the BevMax 4 for its simpler operation. While some may disagree with me, I personally think the conveyor screws on the Vision are more of a gimmick than a benefit, as it is just another part that can fail when the gravity feed system on the BevMax works flawlessly without adding complexity. Also, based on my observations, it appears that the BevMax 4 is becoming the preferred glass front vendor by most Coke and Pepsi bottlers, since most of the newest glass front machines I have seen from both of them across the nation tend to be BevMax 4s. reel
Interesting PinkJazz here in Australia CocaCola uses Royal Vision Vendor 500 glassfronts exclusively, i run them as well as the DN Bevmax and theres no doubt in my mind that the Royals are a superior machine, now with the new model i think it cements itself as the best glassfront drink vendor on the market.!. In my opinion the Vendo Vue is great for scap metal, i would rather buy a Japanese refurbished Sanden/Vendo with a conclux mechanism these machines offer a great variety of drinks and are trouble free. They have a large live display and can carry a large amount of cans. Are these machines available in the US?. Yeah Kiwi you guys are rolling in cash, here the economy aint good we have the worst Federal Government in history next to Whitlam and the place is very much a two tiered economy, the average small business here is doing it really tough and the costs of actually being in business is soaring. I heard the news yesterday we can look forward to a 23% increase in electricity charges this year .................i guess that may slow down the immigrants for the long white cloud, thats if they arent already here lol

reel
Yes similar to that one, they are a very reliable machine. A company on the Gold Coast sold franchises based on these machines under their own name Everquench and theres still a lot out there in the market. Theres other people that buy them in for refurbishment and onselling, they are all secondhand machines from the huge Japanese market. Theres a Malaysian company that buys thousands of these machines out of Japan each month refurbish them in Malaysia and onsells to other countries including Australia where they have an office in Victoria, refurb vending machines is just one part of their operation. . QualitySelectionsJ
There is a vendor selling/swapping compressors for Dixie soda machines. He is using Vendo compressors for the Dixie. He claims they work just as well. Will a Vendo compressor with small coils cool a Dixie. Thanks everyone!
