How Many Of You Carry Concealed Or Open When Servicing Your Vending Routes?

I do not carry but let me say I like guns, I like shooting trap or sporting clays and love to turkey hunt. I have guns in my home and one in my bedroom. One of the reasons is because most of my accounts are businesses that I have to drive on to their property thru gates and check in with security.

I load at my warehouse and get gas first thing in the morning. After I hit my first stop of the day I do not stop anywhere else accept at my accounts. No gas, No Mickey Ds, Nowhere. I mix up my routes and do not service the same account at the same time on the same day. I take a couple of different routes back to my warehouse and I am attentive if I see the same vehicle behind me more than once. I leave my truck unlocked because I carry my coin bags and a jack handle with me in the bottom of my candy or chip bin into every account so no one sees the coin bags go in or come out and broken windows and doors cost more than what I would lose.

And finally the biggest reason I do not carry is, For the last forty years and beyond I am hoping to live out the remainder of my life without having to shoot anyone else

I do like the bear spray idea.....

Damn,

James Bond could take some cues from you.

............................... If you run out of Turkeys, we've got a lot of them around here that could stand a good shooting ;D

When I get to a location, nobody knows I am vending, until I get out of the car. When I am done, I try to keep my eyes open, get to the car, and leave. The highest risk is when somebody knows you have money.

I spent (way too many) years delivering food. I knew one person who was attacked for his money, hit in the back of the head with a 2x4. (I am convinced it was a former co-worker who didn't like the guy, and was fired right before this.) He spent 6 months in the hospital recovering, barely remembering any of it, and went back to delivering when his doctor cleared him.

One thing that has made me feel more comfortable was lifting weights. I'm no bodybuilder, but I have had some decent muscle on my frame. (Less since my pinched nerve in my neck.) Generally robbing somebody in a parking lot is more of a convenience crime then planned. Looking like a less convenient target, and/or looking like a person who would fight back can actually make a difference as to how likely you are to be robbed.

The most common stolen car is the one that is unlocked, with the keys still in the car, and is often running. Hopping out of your car "just for a minute" to grab something quickly can cost you, and we have all seen people do this.

Oh yeah, while I support gun ownership, and conceal carry, I don't own a gun.

Does anyone have a FN five-seven or have shot one.

Also i dont carry but most of the areas i service are not to bad.

Take a look at the availability and cost of the ammo for the FN. Really cool gun but it isn't much fun if you can't shoot it.

I don't carry, but I have a black belt in martial arts a street fighting style. I stay in good shape as well. But I really don't have anything worth killing over so I would probably just give it to them anyway. Unless they pulled a weapon. If that happens and we are close to one another they will have broken arms for their effort. If we are not close well hopefully they don't shoot straight. Otherwise I guess my life insurance will payoff well.

A knife under 6 inches inst a bad idea to carry they do not need a permit and have several uses while doing your route, one that I have found useful is prying jammed quarters out of coin mechs

I have become quite the connoisseur of leatherman tools for quick use on location. I have at least 6-7 of them right now having gone too small and too large. The knife comes in handy but it won't replace the Smith and Wesson or Kimber.
