daggermouth
I'm new to the business and I know I should be selling gum balls but a lot of my locations complain about kids sticking the gum everywhere. Some have told me to either swap gumballs for candy or the machine has to go. Now I'm left with a bunch of gum ball canisters. I'm not big enough to start buying balls/toys yet. I heard somewhere that modifying the gum ball wheel to sell candy is possible. Can anybody explain?
GagesVending
Well a gumball wheel is a gumball wheel. You can keep the canister, but you will have to change the wheel itself. It will be expensive to replace all of them, but you could just buy a case or 2 of 1" capsules. Flatline has a few different kinds that are fairly reasonable and have sold well for me in locations with kids. I came across the same situation, but with only one of my 1800s and I ended up getting a new wheel on ebay.
Erosenlieb
That is the same problem i ran into. With a small bit of tweaking i know have 1-800 that can vend 1" caps. You can spend about 30 bucks and get a box of A&A mini sticky hands or something. Do not buy the self vend i know they are cheap but you will have about 60% miss vends on 1-800s. mjacks
I have had really good luck with the round capsules and products from Brand vending (Pet friends line aka Zoomania) in the middle canister. We can't run gum balls with our biggest client either.
daggermouth
Thanks for all your great input. Are bouncy balls good to vend through the gum ball canister? Do the sell well?
GagesVending
Bouncy balls should be fine. I haven't personally tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. The size is about the same as a gumball, so I'd say go for it! (But test it before you place the machine, of course!)
shepherdsflock
I sell both round and acorn capsules from my 1800 machines very few misvends. Toys are much easier to deal with than candy in my opinion. The only thing, though, is you're going to want to get some 50 centcoin mechanisms if you start selling toys; which will probably cost more than buying some candy wheels. Looks to me like you're going to need to spend some money either way.
dlsnyder65
I might have some candy wheels for them if you are interested...
